Is your Check engine light also on?
If it is, the ECU turns "OFF" the traction control.
Fix the check engine light, and the traction control works again.

When the TRAC light in the middle of the tach stays on it means the system is not functioning. Somewhere a component or sensor is making the light stay on. When I had this problem, it was because one of the electric control harnesses on the throttle body was loose. After I checked and reconnected the harnesses it worked great. Hope yours is as simple a fix too.

If your ABS system is not working, your TRAC will not work either.

I know this is a dumb question but did you press the TRAC-off button?

Well if you have a prob like i did, when the TRAC light just showed up and your TCS didnt work. All i did was mess with the Hoses under the hood, that linked the TCS to the throttlebody, and stuff like that. (IE I made them tighter over the fittings). And boom, it works good as new.

Turns out that method didnt work, anyone else have another idea??

I am having this problem also. It started right after I did a tuneup making me think I left something loose. My TRAC light will stay on all the time save 3 early morning cold starts. I have now quadruple checked that all the connectors, hoses, etc. are tight. My next step is to use a volt meter to test the TBS plug connector and wires to make sure no old wires broke. I have to admit, that connector got pushed and pulled on a lot when removing it to take off the intake pipe with the resonator on it. Anyone else have any other trouble shooting suggestions?

Default TRAC lite on

I am having the same problem...have had this problem for 3 years and no one has a sollution. TRAC lite goes on after startup. No Check engine lite. I disconnected the TRAC computer for several months, then reconnected and it didn't act up for about a year. Then, back again. Excessive pumping is the error code. Anyone have a permanent fix? Car is stock, 95 SC300 142,000 miles, and bought it new.

I have disconnected the battery for 48 hours and that sometimes removes the problem for a day or so. When I start up, before the error shuts off the TCS, if I spin the wheels which kicks in the system, that sometimes helps for a trip or two. Then back again. Wish I knew the answer. It has spoiled the pleasure of owning this wonderful car.

I had the same problem in '04.. took it to the dealer and they said it was the O2 sensors. fixed those and ran good till now, the TRAC lights are back on again. I also noticed my gas mileage has been horrible lately.. around 17mpg on the highway for a GS300. I changed the air filter lately, hardly ever use the A/C, and keeps my tires inflated all the time.... suspect the poor mileage is linked to the TRAC problem.
