Unhappy new radiator? Temp. Sensor?

I have a 1992 SC300 with a crack near the top of radiator (by the cap). Any one know of a good used radiator?

For now , I have patched it with fiberglass, but I don't think it will last.
In additon, in the winter time the heat fails about 1 day out of 10. I keep playing with the temp. control **** and eventially it goes on. I have changed the themostat 2X, but that hasn't solved the problem. Could it be the Water Temp Sensor? The OAT (what is this), the servo motor that
drives some mixing valve ( how do I check for this)?, Is the Water Pump going?, Is it the HOT
water metering valve ( where is this and how can I get to it) ?,

Help! It's starting to get cold, and I'm getting cold just thinking about it!

The thermostat and water pump are not the problem, since presumably the engine gets hot and works fine. If you have a crack, then you're losing coolant. Once coolant level drops below full, one of the first things that happens is the heater stops working.

If it's not a coolant level issue, it may be those other factors you cite. Be sure to search previous threads to see how others dealt with it.

Mine also cracked in the same place. I just bought a new one from radiatorbarn.com for $135 shipped and it's all metal.

Would it be worth it to save for a koyo to get 20-30% more over stock, or get an OEM TT rad?

Thanks for the tip. Most likely I'll follow up unless some one on the Forum has one.

For starters, I put "heater valve" in the search box and came up with these 68 threads:

You can narrow it down more, if you wish, by adding other words. If it was my car and my problem, I'd want to read up as much as possible.

Thanks for leading me to the radiator barn. I saved over 50% off the best price and of course
Lexus was asking $600 for it. Are you kidding me!! No I'm not!
