Default Need assistance with cut wire in engine bay

I've been having a cold starting problem and wonder if this may be related. I popped my hood today for a routing checkup and noticed a wire touching the serpentine belt. It was cut halfway through. I'm going to have it repaired soon. Where is this wire supposed to be tucked away? The wire is pretty long so I'm not exactly sure. Pictures would be very helpful.

The images are fairly large so 56k beware:

unless the wire blisters into a resistor pack or something (which it doesn't appear to do) it's just extra wires in the harness for an option - possibly the 6 cyl, so it doesn't look relevant.

I don't know...that sounds very unlikely to me.

OK, then why are there two wires on that plug, and only two wires coming out the other side showing the other wires are extra for a different option?

Those harness' are multi tasking. They go on different options and engines. So i'm saying IF there is no other blister packs or plugs not in your pic, they are irrelevant extra's.

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying. I had thought this could be the connector for the cold injector time switch. I'm thinking one end supplies power/the signal for the switch or whatever it controls and the other goes to the switch/whatever it controls.

This definately is not a useless wire. I looks to be either the cold start injector time switch connector, or a cam position sensor connector, although I could be wrong. If someone else has a picture of how theirs sits, or knows more, please chime in!

Scott

Edit: On second thought, I don't think this is the cam position sensor connector. There is another connector to the right of this one, which I think is that one.

Well it turns out its the cam angle sensor. I'm still trying to figure out how its supposed to sit on the motor.

If you figure it out, be sure to post a follow up pic. Someone might wanna know if that is indeed a useful part of the harness.

By the way I was only remarking about extra wires that may be in the harness, not the two visible one's that are obviously in use

Oh I'll post a follow-up alright, once I actually have the time to take my car to Toyota for this. They want the car for the whole day to fix this, since they don't know exactly when they will have time during the day. I'm hoping Lexus will accomodate me in finding where this wire is supposed to go--someone on Lextreme mentioned a clip on the front of the motor which I am missing. When you disconnect the wires the CEL comes on, so the connection is obviously still working, at least for the most part.
