And yeah I never argued the point that IS3 guys used the W58, because I know thats true, I've seen it done a few times, quite an easy swap IIRC. Uses just a different tranny, but the same bellhousing, tailshft, etc

I know who it is that ran that much power through his W58, and it does hold it; but he doesnt drive it hard either... from what I gathered.

Again, never meant to insult you, I know you're not stupid.

its all good brother. if we are thinking of the same member..... then i feel that 12 sec. passes are considered hard driving. i dont know... im sure he will jump on this thread sooner or later.... he loved that W58 of his.

judging from 500whp and running only 12 second passes, yeah thats not driving it hard at all I bet if he were cutting some 1.8 60' times (500whp is enough to run mid to low 11s) that tranny would blow right off the line.

here is my .02
w58's are plentiful.Heck my stock sc had one. when my 1j decides to toss one, i go to the junk yard and for 80 bucks i get one. Then i pull my trans in an hour, spend 2 hours cleaning the new trans/ swapping the bell housing/ tail shaft/ speedo gear over.
The only bad side is that sometimes the tailshaft doesnt fit. there fore you only have the back 2 bolts holding your trans in. But thats ok for me.
TL: DR
W58'S are cheap and came in every non turbo supra and some celicas (might have been w56)
