Default Which Engines are possible for sc400?

What are possible powerplants that can be swapped without too much of a hassle (like friggin'2 jz's?). From those, which are legal and which aren't in California?

2jz is legal, 1jz i dont know but pretty soon the cops will be catching on to what some enthusiasts have swapped into their hoods.

1JZ will be illegal any way you look at it.

You're really much better off buying an SC300 and swapping the JZ engines.

well the 1jz engine is turbo jdm, you will have to worry about the smog, there are some other people here on the boards who have done this swap, but it is illegal btw

Smog restrictions are one of the only reasons i hate California, aside from illegal immigrants.

If you have a SC400 which it sounds like you do from another thread you posted, you're much better off buying an SC300 to do any JZ swaps.

The amount of things you'd have to change out would add to extra expenses.
I'm pretty sure that the trannies do not swap. That's a major cost in itself.
While as the SC300 which already has a JZ engine has many things in common with a 2JZ-GTE. And probably things in common with the 1JZ-GTE.

Someone help me out here, I'm not exactly the guru on swaps and why not to do them on certain cars.

It's basically the same swap. My friend has a sc400 and he swapped in a 2jz and converted it to 6 speed as well. He didn't do anything much different than I did when I swapped in a 2jz and my 6 speed.

There are a couple people on here with 1jz swapped sc400s as well
