Default turbo talk................

as the title state's it's just talk. i had a crazy idea and thought it should share it.

i was watching g4tv and saw this tri turbo supra that to me looked like a waste of money,

on a scale of one to ten my turbo knowldge and experence is at 7.

alot of people have twin turbo kits, they are common place, but most people either complain about lag, or the turbos with great spool have little or no top end.

so get this, use three turbos but keep the traditional twin set up @14psi(something kinda small), and the exaust that runs out the twins to the route them into a T76 or T88 set to(10-15)psi, so you end up with 24-30psi.

you have two run two waste gates, but you will have the instant boost of smalles turbos, and the top end of a T88, since there are turbos in front of the t88 it should also spool faster.

ok this was a dream i had so no flaming, i think it sounds like a good idea, just wanted to hear what you guys thing.

i think this could also be use as a twin ste up.

one single at the exaust manifold, and a bigger single lower in the exaust flow......................

i don't want to do it just messing with the idea, it just poped into my head so i thought i might share it.

to me it's really not that crazy, just a little different compared to a regular twin turbo kit.

forget the three turbo setup,it'll be a TT,it's just plumed different.

and don't think about the plumbing or what will happen if something goes wrong, something could go wrong with a stock TT engine. just think of the functionallity of it.

besides this is all in the name of making power right.

the way it is in my head right now, if your car is already turboed it will only cost the price of an extra turbo, wastegate, boost controller and maybe $100.00-250.00 in plumbing.

things look so different in your dreams

besides the money i'm looking for someone to poke BIG holes in my theory.

You're giving yourself far too much credit.

Disregarding the massive fitment issue with a setup like this, the exhaust energy coming out of the exhaust wheels of the first turbos are at a GREATLY reduced energy level, with no shot in hell of spooling a large turbo at some point this calender year. This doesn't even take into account the small turbo's restriction of the entire system.

I would recommend the Nitrous setup as Ki_Soarer stated. They work VERY well and use a minimal amount of Nitrous as it is usually accompanied with a Hobb switch that shuts off once a set level of boost is attained.

But thanks for sharing, as talking about a crazy idea and a fostering good laugh never hurt anybody.

Yes, 7 is a bit too high for the ambitious

Triple turbo is not practical; its expensive as hell to fabricate triple turbo manifolds, 3x turbos, and all the other problems that are associated with oil feed/return lines, sequential problems, etc etc.

And at the end, a high horsepower single turbo with a stall converter (auto) can take out a triple turbo'd car.

It reminds me of the twin turbo civic going around

Yes, the Inciner8tor, a 57 Bel-Air. Very neat looking show car, but hardly practical. Made like 730hp.

Default danm

and i thought i was crazy.

i really did give my self too much credit, lol.........we all do

i always work on other peoples cars though, in the past i did two hondas, a couple supercharged V8's, one miata and a old supra. so i really don't know where to rate myself

so that is not even practical much less possible, well it was worth a try, and i think i made a couple laugh.

Why not just use 4or 5 Turbo's ? Nitrous is your friend for what you want to do. Hot Turbo engine's benefit in more ways that one if set up right. ex. 50 shot.
