Also, your airbag light is on because you disconnected the battery. MOST of the time it comes on whenever you mess with the battery.

that is specific for 1jz ecu right? because my airbag light doesnt come on cept at startup like its supposed to and i've reset the ecu plenty of times... (on my 2jz-ge of course)

Did trying the tach wire give a good tach signal?

Well the 330ohm resistor works !! wired it behind cluster on yellow w/ green striped wire(on the middle plug)
seems the cluster I borrowed to test was off or broken. the middle is just under half now

have you guys tried fixing this with the diagnostics tc/ab to the negative post of the battery trick? Or does the 1jz not have the diagnostics port?

yea, rich has my old SC!!! im so glad its got the GTE now... it needed it.

as for the airbag light, i dont think it has to do with the battery... i think thats if you turn on the car with the cluster out. i know there is a way to read the codes, but i dont know if that would work with the 1J or not. its more than likely an ECU problem. thats my thoughts.

so we will know if the tack addapter works soon, and the 330ohm resistor does work for the temp, now we need to figure out the oil and airbag lights, and the ignition problem... (withought a ghetto jump) lol.

Default 1jz upgrades

has anyone done upgrades to their 1jz and noticed difference a bit later. seems the ecu takes a couple of "on and offs" to learn new mods. I upgraded to a front mount intercooler and at first it felt slower and throttle response sluggish. but after 2-3 times driving the car everything seemed to adjust and I cant tell the hp gain. car breaks the tires loose (automatic)

Not really, my car felt just perfect righ from the bat. You might want to check for some loose connections that might have occured during test runs.
