Default dyno?

my friend in california recently did a dyno and his car put out 205 to the wheels. all he has is a 2.5" xpipe w/ dragger mufflers from the 2 front cats and a cone intake. his car is running bad right now, he get poor gas mileage. what i dont get is how he still put out 205 to the wheels. on the forums people say stock sc400 usually get around 180whp. so with a xpipe, cone intake, and a car running bad still get that much of a increase. also he has 226wtq.

because he probably is not a CL member, otherwise he wouldn't have dynoed it with just a x-pipe and intake, he would have read all about it here and stayed away from noob mistakes

he's a cl member. he takes his car to the runs and all. i told him all he needs is a tune up which he still hasn't dont yet. that's probably the reason why his car is running bad. also the dyno was only $60 so why not.

Why not spend $60 on new plugs, air filter, and oil and filter? Whatever, its his car not mine

Anyway, back on topic, what kind of dyno machine was used?

Different dynos can give different hp readings to as much as 20 hp. Different year sc400's can differ to as much as 50 hp. 180 hp is for a 1992 or 1993 model.

what's the factory hp rating on the sc400?

are you sure you weren't mistaken the sc300 as making 180hp?

hope he has better luck next time. and some people need to get off this guys back

all he wants is a simple answer to the question not a lecture on how stupid his friend is.

He needs to tell us what year sc400 his friend has and what kind of dyno it is. The mileage on his motor is an important variable too.

205rwhp and 226rwtq are good numbers.

I rand my car on dynojet (92 sc400 80k miles or so)

2.5" x-piped with thunder hooker mufflers and S-AFC + walbro 255
i put down 214rwhp and 238rwtq.

so if he was to get a tune up and getting the car running better he'll probably gain another hp or so
