new project: 6 speed swap
well for the longest time i have been troubled about what to do with my transmission..... and since my car is turbo now the stock auto. isnt gunna cut it. so naturally i thought i would just have it built and move on .... but im sorry i just cant live with auto. any more espcially after everyone sees my car looks at the engine and their first response is ... wow thats really nice ill bet its fast or i get nice turbo set up or other things ... but then they get inside my car and i hear "oh its an automatic????" very sad so ive decided to do the auto to 6 speed swap i know it will be very expensive and very time consuming and well just a ****** to do.
now keep in mind i am very ... retarded when it comes to transmissions so im going to need alot of help from you guys so here i go with the questions
should i buy a new 6 speed or just try to find a used one from a supra guy? can i use the 6 speed drive shaft or will i need a custom one? exactly what parts from the rear end will i need?
i know that i will need some of the obvious things like shifter assembly and pedals but what else will i need? ive seen a write up of this done to an auto supra is it close to the same? will i need to modify my subtunnel(cut part of it out)? and finally who has actually done this swap???
thanks in advance to all who can help me out
cliff notes: doing auto to 6 speed swap. dont know much need help. what will i need to do this?

It isn't that hard to convert. I had an auto in my car and when I did the GTE swap, I through in the 6 speed with it. I didn't purshase the manual brake pedal, instead cut mine in half. You will need a custom driveshaft and it's best if you look for a 6 speed rear end (hard to find and expensive). You wont like the auto tt rear end (3.76) with the 6 speed trans. I'm still looking for a 6 speed rear end to finish up my swap. You're also going to have to cut alot to fit the 6 speed. I didn't have to bang the tunnel at all, like some said, but I did have to cut where the shifter goes.
I can take pics if interested.

Need Different Accessory Drive Belt Tensioner
The 2jz-gte manual transmission uses a completely different accessory drive belt tensioner assembly, so you'll need to change that out also.
