Default Dyno Results with DaveH kit @ 5psi

Finally made it to the dyno.
246.9 SAE rwhp and 238.1 torque @ 5psi of boost.
Not the typical insane dyno #s you see posted, but I'm just starting with this whole 'boost' concept and thought someone would be interested in seeing the streetable #s.
My OBDII ECU is still fighting my SAFC so the AFR at 4,000 RPM is definitely not something I like.

Thats more HP with 5 psi than I expected from the 2JZ..I thought 5 psi was going to get numbers like 220-230 at most...Nice start..

Thanks!
I did some rough calculations, and this is what I came up with:
Stock = 180 rwhp @ 14.7 psi (atmospheric pressure)
180rwhp/14.7psi = 12.25 rwhp/psi
Now the engine is crammed with 5 psi over stock for a grand total of 19.7psi (with the fuel to match after 4,000rpm )
12.25rwhp/psi * 19.7psi = 241.3 rwhp

Pretty dang close.
Using these calcs, I'd need 9.7 psi of boost to hit my 300 rwhp goal.

Cheers,
~Alan

Most likely.

I wish Gazi would chime in on that AFR spike @ 4K rpm.
Seems it's inherent to OBDII cars.

Alan,

I never dynoed. I suggest you look into the esc1 (made by spitsec). When the device sees positive boost, it will throw you car into open loop. I know a few is300 guys have used this to tune out the lean conditions.

Thanks Gazi.
I called SplitSecond and they told me that the ESC1 wouldn't do me much good because the spike happens even at WOT where the ECU is already in Open Loop.
Look at the graph...it dips to 11.5 by 3000 RPM and then climbs to 15.5 at 4000 RPM.
ESC1 is used to get the ECU into Open Loop at partial throttle when there is positive boost.

When you had your kit, did you monitor AFR in any way?

I was only monitoring real time, not logging. At 4K rpm, have you tried riching it up alot?

Or does it not make a difference.

I tried the full +50% at 4,000 RPM and it didn't do squat.
As suggested by someone else with a similar issue, I'm gonna try richening it earlier (3500 RPM) and see what happens.

Didn't know you went boosted ...

Congrats. What turbo? Internal gate? What are using for control?

Looks decent.

Hey AJ,
Yeah, I've been waiting to get turboed since the day I joined LOC and saw your setup. (And realised the possibility)
Before buying the SC I had been looking for a Supra and gave up because they are way too expensive.
I had no idea that the SC was really a Supra in a nicer shell.

Anyways, it's a PT52 turbo, Tial 38MM wastegate, SAFC for fuel, spring for boost.
In case you missed them, pics of setup (before MAF relocation) are here:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...&highlight=maf

And after MAF relocation pics are here:
http://supraforums.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=253274

AJ: If I remember correctly, at one time, your turbo was drawing air through the stock airbox. Do you have any pics of that?
I really wanted to do that but with my IC pipes in the way, I don't know if I'll be able to do it.

That's cool Alan. Congrats...

My car always ran a 1uz maf hooked to a k and n filter pack... I'm sure it's possible to do it, but probably to little advantage if not disadvantage... Stick with a cone...

Looks real good. My set-up is in pieces currently. I'll get some pics up eventually. Should look real nice once it gets back together. My hard drive crashed 3 months ago and I just ordered a new one. Suffice it to say, I lost every picture and all info I ever had on the subject....

Some of it was retrievable but the important stuff was lost as always...

Stay tuned...

I'd recommend getting a boost controller and trying out 10 pounds...

Best of luck to you.

With the AFR printout seen above, the only thing 10 psi would do for me is cost me a new engine.
I'm trying to resolve the AFR spike @ 4K RPM.
If I ever figure it out, I'm gonna turn up the boost to ~8psi and check the AFR again.
This whole unpredictable ECU thing is killing me.
I even though about purchasing an AEM EMS but then realized that would just add unknown variables to problems I already have.

I'll figure it out someday.
I already solved a few problems such as the post-blow-off stallout, so I'm sure I'll find an answer for the lean spike as well.
