Default Charcoal Canister ?

Does anyone happen to know anywhere I can get a new charcoal canister/filter for a 97 SC400? I recently had my 120,000 maintance done and since then I've had my check engine light come on 3 different times in the past month. First was a small crack in one of the hoses, no biggie. Next time the dealership said it was small leak in the gas tank cap so that was replaced. Now it's back on and this time they are saying its my charcoal canister for the emissions that is starting to go and they want $500+ to fix it.

I've done my homework and searched high and low through these forums looking for more information but I found only a handful of threads and none mentioned where I could purchase one. It's just killing me that I just dropped $1,600 for a full tune-up and now I'm having all these problems that I never had before.

Default Thanks

Thanks CEO for the link. I had searched through all the clublexus approved vendors/merchants and couldn't find the part. Just to double check , the charcoal canister (what my dealer said I needed) and the vapor canister are one in the same correct? If so you are the man and saved me a ton of money

the first thing you need to do is to call a dealer and get the part number for the canister....the check all of the dealers on that list ......also call carson toyota....and make sure that all of the dealers give you the internet price...it will save you tons of cash....make sure you do this all of the time before you purchase and lexus OEM parts....p.s. sometimes you may have to have your VIN handy...hehe

if your canister and gas cap were replaced and your car is still throwin an EVAP system code you might wanna replace your vsv valve. Pretty easy install, just need to chuck the front wheels, jack up the back. Should be by the gas tank. oh damn, or was that an is or rx? Should be somewhere there.

(i think...haven't done a canister on an sc300 in awhile)

good luck
