Talking LSD users, weigh in!!

Anyone here using the 6-speed Supra TorSen differential in their auto-tranny SC?? What's the effect on gas mileage, speedometer, odometer, and top-end? I want a TorSen, but everywhere I look people are selling the 6-speed versions. Does it really matter if I slap a 6-speed diff. into my auto diff. housing?

Moreover, when I look on the TRD parts guide for their clutch-type differentials, they state that "side-gear shafts are required". Does this mean you can't/shouldn't install the LSD into the stock diff. housing?

i got the 94N/A LSD. I got the whole unit (housing, gear, LSD).
The speedo is off by about 7mph @ 75-80mph (shows that i'm going 80-85mph)

I think the only difference between the 6speed and the N/A LSD is the gear ratios.

if you want to put the speed rear housing etc etc then you will need a new driveshaft.

From what I understand the 6 speed LSD will not fit into the SC's housing

with the 6speed gear and LSD your acceleration will be slower... much slower

I can't smoke the tires brake torquing with the LSD + 275/35/18 rears.

TRD LSD do fit the SC housing but you will need to buy "side gear shafts" (search for gadgetSC's post). GadgetSC put TRD LSD on his SC300

for SC if you use any other gears below the 4.08 or 4.27 your accelration is going be worse since the SC's equipped with 4speed auto's gear ratio is 3.92

go find the 4.08 or the 4.27 LSD.

Thanks for the reply Dennis. I thought the 97+ auto LSD was a perfect match to our cars? If you reference the TRD parts listing, the Supra's TRD LSD is the same as the SC/Soarer's TRD LSD. Thus shouldn't the Supra's OEM LSD match the gears of the SC??
