Default Carson Meet Afterthought (2)...

<sorry about starting a new thread everyone>

First and for most, thanks Ethan and Steve G. (and all the sponsors) for all the hard work!

Secondly, yeah, I was dissapointed with the meet a bit... I missed the food, the raffle, and had to park across the street at first... but it was my fault. I was late as usual! LOL

Overall, it was great to meet up with everyone again. Even saw an old "TeamLexstacy" fellow member again... awesome SRT SC'd IS btw. Saw some very nicely modded cars. Thanks Steve for the chrome rear caliper emblems and the hook up for the front clear bumper lights! Mac, you gotta really help from doing anymore mods this year! Hahaha with meets like this... LOL

In regards to everyone complaining... come on people. In all honesty, it was a meet (the flyer even said Toyota & Lexus Owners meet). It was not a car show, and it was not meant to be. If it was HIN/ImportShowoff we would have all paid 25 bucks at the door. The big turn out was unexpected. It just goes to show how many people Toyota and Lexus cars. Heck, it was too hot if you didn't IMHO. My suggestion, let's not complain anymore, but learn from it and help to do things better next time - like give Ethan and Steve G. more help.

BTW, anyone know where I can get new tires for my HPI GS in bulk? Doing all those donuts didn't leave much tread left.

Hey al2jzge,

I think I met you just as I was about to leave from the park lot across the street...... It was hard to meet people from our own club since we didn't know who is who......next time....

By the way, nice GS......very clean. Try use tireRAck first since their price is noramlly pretty good. Print out the quote from tirerack then take it to your local chain tire stores such as Discount Tires or American Tires.....they will beat that price. That is how I got my so-3 so cheap....

Hey Al!

Yeah too bad you didn't come earlier! It would have been nice to see your ride with your new L-Sportlines along with the others.

To everyone:

Ethan invited me to do the Toyota side...so I will take all responsibility for it. Ethan notified me exactly 4 weeks before this meet started. No we (TeamSC3) didn't invite ourselves to this meet. Ethan let me know what's up and he let me take care of the Toyota side of things. So we all agreed along with Steve Ganz to open it up as an owners meet. Afterall...it is a Toyota dealership...so why not? I am a very avid Toyota & Lexus enthusiast. Call me a Toyota die-hard if you will. As it was titled, it was an "Owners Meet", not a car show, not a showoff...simply...a kickback location for Owners to meet. If it didn't meet people's expectations, I apologize. We thought this would be a good way to get owners together...and also not be hassled by rent-a-cops. For food, I didn't even get to touch ANY of it as I was the one helping everyone park. I've been doing that 2-3 hours straight with little help, and I tried my best to accomodate everyone. As you can see, there were more IS300s and Celicas on count than any other. As for Lexus owners having to park far...many of the Lexus vehicles were parked up front. I'm sorry if the Toyota to Lexus ratio is not balanced. As the flyer stated, first come first served...and we didn't realize how fast people came and how many came at one time. I was there from 8am all the way to 4:30 to help clean up the trash. I didn't have to stay all that time. Even a few of our guys including a few of the Celica guys came and stayed to help Ethan and everyone clean up. They didn't have to do that but they did it. Lastly, space, yes it was small...WAY smaller than what we agreed with to Steve. But hey, some space is better than no space. We should have had the whole lot, but as we got there at 8am to our dismay, we only got less than half. Yes we were disappointed but it was beyond our control, but we made the best of it. I too did enjoy myself at the ClubLexus meet in Fontana this past March. That was one of the best meets i've ever been to. All the credit goes to Ethan for all the planning of that meet.

I appreciate what Steve and Ethan did to make this meet possible and can't thank Ethan enough for notifying me and inviting me personally (including TeamSC3) to make it happen. If you all didn't have a good time, I apologize. I guess it's safe to say there will be no more joint Toyota and Lexus Owners meets in the future. Thinking it would be a treat for us Toyota & Lexus enthusiasts, it seems like it's more of a burden instead of fun.

Thanks for your time,
Ryan

Ryan,

Please don't get offended by other member's comments. There are some of us do enjoy to see other clubs' members there. I think some people just didn't expect this meet to turn out so huge that it really caught them off guard.

Same thought as you had, the parking lot was way too small for such a multi-club meet. I guess if all of us would have known the turn out ahead, many things would have been better controlled, such as food, drinks and parking spaces. Considering the circumstances, I really think you guys did a wonderful job. By the way, thanks for let that SC430 in the last minutes. I figured we need at least one of it to represent its class.

I don't see why such a multi-club event (Toyota based) cannot be held again. We can all definitely learn from this and be better prepared next time. I am pretty sure that no one will be surprised next time around.

Just remember how long it took this country to resolve the segregation issue.....even today we are still learning from it. Nothing is easy the first time, but we do get better at it each time we try.

Hey Ryan. No, you or Ethan don't have to take the blame. You guys did an excellent job with the resources you had to work with and I am very impressed. You guys met with Steve quite a few times to discuss things for the meet and had many conversations and took things through to plan everything. You guys did what you could to get the meet rolling on wheels.

Actually, now that I think about it, with the things that happened that day and the heat, no food/water, you and Ethan actually did a good job running around trying to find parking for the other people who didn't get to park in the main lot and getting things set up, this, that, this, that.

Sure things didn't go smoothly, but hey, next time, we can take those mistakes into consideration and improve vastly on the next meets to come.

Much props to Ryan and Ethan. Sure, the meet didn't reach some of our expectations, but that's just one factor. They spent a LOT of time on this meet and I believe we need to see an appreciation for that.

Ryan , Ethan , and Steve G thank you for a good meet. I appreciated the invite from you three, and hope to do it next year. Lets keep it positive in this thread, we have heard enough negative, and these three are the ones taking the brunt. Maybe Fontana next year

I was going to keep my opinions to myself but I just can't. I personally have an IS300 and am from Sc3. I choose to be from there for many obvious reasons shown to me at Saturday's meet. Three out of all the Lexus owners I met that day, THREE!!!were actually civil to me and took an interest to kno why I would be with sc3 and not is300.net or CL. My reasoning is very simple. Sc3 guys are welcoming, we don't exclude other non Camry's just because. We welcome everyone. The vibes I got from almost every single Lexus owner I came into contact with was opposite. I personally had a good time, I enjoyed helping out and meeting new people. There shouldn't have been any pressures. It was a meet, not a show. An opportunity to get us all together, they way I think it should be. Some, not all, of the people I met were rude, they thought they were better than everyone else, they talked sh*t about all the non-Lexus cars that were there. Im big on respect, if you can't respect people, then you should have gone home. I can not believe that when we were doing the registration, people were saying things like "What if I don't want what I win?" WTF is wrong with people? I am sorry to be a b*tch and I don't mind living with people thinking I am. But when I feel that people don't appreciate a damn thing, it really bothers me.

There were only a handful of people who were helping out and I give much respect to Steve, Ethan and Ryan for taking the anitiative and going out of their way to make this all happen. Instead of b*ching that they didn't get to eat bc they came late, or that it was hot, or even more stupid to b*ch about Toyota's being there, we should all say thank you to those three for making it all happen. Without them taking control, it wouldn't have happened and people would have cried about more than they already.

Lets all grow up, get over our big ego's and enjoy things like this. They are put on to make our community of Toyota's & Lexus' bigger and stronger.

Thank you guys for all your hard work. Some of us appreciate it.

Big thanks to Steve, Ethan and Ryan for the great meet. Outstanding job for what you guys had to work with. Just wanted to say that It was pretty cool meeting other car enthusiasts of different types, be it Lexus or Toyota.. Just dont know why so many negative comments about Toyotas, I met a few CL members and they were pretty cool to talk to and gave me very good comments on my '02 Camry, Thats what really made my day.. a GS guy telling me my car looks great. I know most of the comments here do not reflect the entire club but for the ones I met, thanks for taking the time and giving me more info on my next car purchase.. GS400 ..

You mean to tell me there was another "Murrietain" at the meet...what are the odds

edfrsd - that wouldn't happen to have been you driving the dark burgandy Camry with the kit, would it?

I was in the corner next to JiC magic stand all the way in the corner stuffed by 3 corollas. but it was all good.. The Camry your talking about is another member of ours.. but my Silver 'non-kit' Camry was parked next to it after the show.. while we were cleaning Im not really sure whom I met but it was a couple pretty cool guys with GS's..

Man I thought everybody but me drove a truck here in Murrieta.. nice to know there are some nice Lexus's out here. I live near the airport off of Hunter Dr.. so if your in the neighborhood, feel free to drop by..

I'm embarassed on behalf of CL to read such anti-Toyota hatred in the subsequent Carson meet threads. I don't understand why some Lexus folks bastardize Toyota, and would quite frankly relate to BMW and MB more readily. Or why the fact that Camrys were there ruined their whole experience? I had a blast at the meet and I felt the more cars there, the merrier. I wish there were more Supras there, and some of those Celicas looked hot. I was only upset that the Lexuses were scattered and not organized to be together. There were like 10 SCs there, but I had to walk to the four ends of the lot just to see them all . And no two SCs were parked next to eachother. If all cars were grouped together, the meet would have been a lot easier to navigate, and the owners would have much more fun conversing and comparing with others with the same car. None of the Lexus guys stayed long or bothered organizing an after-meet cruise either. At least the TeamSC3 guys had dinner together. I applaude TeamSC3 for their sense of community and brotherhood. Seemed like everyone there from TeamSC3 were good buddies sharing inside jokes, trading quips, and whatnot. Oh yeah, and IS300.NET on the whole is kind of juvenile, but lets not hate the individual IS300 owners or label IS300 owners. There are a few cool guys with IS300s once you bother getting to know them better.
