Keeping things in perspective
As finals are coming up for me this coming week, today really put things into perspective.
It had been a normal day for the most part, I had been stressing out big time over last minute things, worrying about studying etc...For the most part like everyone else on campus.
I was checking my school email and there was a prayer request for someone without much detail, just a request. I go to a Christian institution so it wasn't out of the ordinary. Shortly after the news of what had happened arrived.
A student that had been struggling with passing a class had received the grade from the last test before the final today. It wasn't what he had hoped for. He headed back to his home probably feeling the same way alot of people do when they put their heart into something only for it to be not good enough. This time was different though, he arrived home to his wife, put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger. He passed away earlier this evening.
Of course it was a shock to hear that this had happened here, not a mile from where I'm sitting now. It was worse to know that his brother is my friend. He lives across the hall in my apartment building with his wife. I can't imagine how he is feeling right now and I'm praying that he can find some peace in his grief.
Just want everyone to remember that nothing is worth taking your life. As bad as it feels at the time, things will get better. If nothing else, keep his family along with your own in your prayers.
