Hi all, I've been noticing a loud humming noise coming from my engine the past couple of days. I recorded a video and posted it below. Engine is already warm, ac and fan are off. Temperature outside was around 25 degrees celsius. Haven't had any issues with the engine so far but the noise is something new. It's quite loud and I can actually hear it when I'm inside the car. Much appreciated.

Rather than posting this I would get right to the dealer before something serious happens if it hasn't already. That is not a normal noise. Did you check your oil level?
Oil levels are fine and oil changes are up to date. Took it to the dealer the other day and mechanic said they are not sure what the noise is but will investigate further this coming week where I will bring the car in again and have them spend more time with it. Will keep you guys updated.
Vacuum Regulating Valve The Vacuum Regulating Valve (VRV) is a ECM duty cycled controlled device that limits the amount of vacuum going to the wastegate actuator. The VRV receives vacuum from the vacuum pump and check valve and provides this vacuum source to the wastegate actuator through vacuum lines in the system. During diagnosis of the turbocharger system, the VRV can be active tested. This active test is labeled as Wastegate Valve Control Duty Ratio.
Yep. I had my VRV replaced, twice. I think its safe to drive, but get it replace ASAP, especially if it's under warranty. Took me a couple trips to the dealership to convince them there was an issue (unsual sound from the engine). The noise first started around 10K miles, and unfortunately, it came back again 10K miles later. So far so good, but I haven't hit my third 10K yet.
