Default Tapping mirror wire for radar detector

Hoping someone can assist a new NX200t owner on how I can tap the mirror wire for my Escort 9500ix radar detector install. Thank you in advance for your help.

It seems there are 2 parts/cover to the mirror wire housing:
Top Cover: I was able to SLIDE the cover down, but how do I remove the top cover?

Lower Cover: Once I remove the top cover, how do I remove the lower housing cover?

I'm assuming there's a certain "trick" to release it easily, but I really don't want to break something so any advice would be helpful.

I just finished this project last weekend on my NX FSport for my Escort 9500ix. I had and used this equipment on my RX 330 and wanted to reuse my detector and mount on my new NX.

After sliding down the top cover, the cover simply snaps off. I was able to do it with my fingers. However you can use a tool if necessary. Pop one side off, then rotate towards the other side. It comes right off. Repeat for the bottom cover to expose the mirror electrical connector. Push the connector release (located in the center of the connector) to separate it. I used a mirror tap cable to power my radar detector. The two wires you want to tap are the blue and black. The blue wire is the switched 12 volt line. It turns on and off with the ignition. The ground is the black wire located directly right of the blue wire. I had to slightly grind down my mirror tap connectors to fit in to the necessary spots. I used a zip tie to hold the mirror tap wires to the existing wire harness then replaced the bottom and top covers. The cord will come out of the top of the lower cover. It was a little difficult to re snap the bottom cover with the wire in place, but everything will snap in place. I have my detector mounted with a Blendmount on the mirror stalk. It is a real clean install.

I hope this helps you. Good luck!
