Default Adaptive Cruise question….

This has happened a few times. While driving on a major highway, with adaptive cruise on etc. a car in front begins to slow and turn onto off-ramp road.
car senses this but brakes down more than necessary with other car already on off ramp etc. Luckily no one was on my @$$ too close. Not safe at all.
Dont mind a bit of slowing but not as much as it does.
Any on screen adjustment anyone know of that might either eliminate this or lengthen perhaps distance between me and a car leaving main road etc?
Have base NX350h. Thanks…

There is a button on your steering wheel that'll adjust the distance between your car and the one in front. There are 4 distance settings. Right beside the horn button on the right side of the wheel, upper. You may have the distance set to max. Just press the button to change the distance. It's measured in car lengths, but I'm not sure what that means in feet. I find the lowest setting is still too far and people will try to cut in front. I have experienced what you have several times. Just tap the brake or the accelerator to override the cruise control and you'll be good. I believe your brake lights come on when the car brakes for you, so anyone behind you will see you slowing down.

This happened to me a couple of times. Not sure why. I wonder maybe cruise control is cancelled when a braking threshold is reached: The radar senses (wrongly in this case) that a lot of slowing is needed, and when the obstruction goes away, the previous speed will not be restored.

Actually in my case car does return to speed prior to the braking .

Thanks, that's good to know. I didn't wait to find out because the NX had slowed down so much I stepped on the accelerator!

Absolutely happened to me on on sweeping curves - car senses it is going too fast (it's not) and overslows - this is a horrible feature and invariably results in me turning off the cruise.

Would love to know if anyone figures out a way to turn off this "help"

What is the "19" in this photo?

It stay on there, and is seen in the HUD, after using Adaptive Cruise Control.

Can you or dealer turn off or switch around adaptive cruise as the default cruise mode in any settings? How many buttons do you have to push just to start cruise for the trip? I never use adaptive, and have to switch to standard each trip. I'm too old to be texting and too young to be a zombie following the crowd, and usually going somewhere, to put up with slowing down for people, and so I just pass them anyways. On it's closest setting, I still get slowdown sometimes - annoying.

I am super disappointed in the adaptive cruise on my NX. I came from a Subaru Forester and used my adaptive cruise constantly and it was seamless and I loved it. The Lexus version has a long way to go to match Subaru IMO. I have all the same issues as listed above and sometimes it will even brake if someone comes flying past me in the lane next to me. I rarely use it in the Lexus

That's the speed that you have set for Adaptive Cruise Control.

Under Settings, you can change the speed through curves or turn this feature off.

I used the adaptive cruise control with lane tracing. It worked pretty well for me. It can see the car detected other cars cutting in front of me on the dash. The braking and acceleration was smooth. I am just using the default settings. The car can change lane for you while lane tracing is active. Very cool.

You are using the Dynamic Adaptive cruise when you see the "speedometer w/arrow + car profile" green icon.
Press the cruise button again until you see only the "speedometer w/arrow" green icon indicating conventional cruise.
Now you are in charge of slowing for traffic and conditions.
