So true. The only way a mud flap is actually effective is if it covers all the body part in line from the tire to the flap's bottom. In other words, the rocks are not thrown horizontally back, but diagonally back from the bottom quarter of the tire. So the only real effective front flap would go almost to the ground. A rear flap only has to protect up to the bumper, so can be shorter.
The mudflaps on the new NX have been next to useless unfortunately.
Considerable accumulation of snow/mud under all 4 doors. Maybe the design is good for drainage if you live in a tropical climate with alot of rain but not good around mud/snow.

The accumulation at the bottom door edge is annoying, even with liquid ice . I have to be careful, when wearing nice clothes and shoes, to avoid the dripping dirty water when I exit.
