Engine noise maker in 350?
I known I read somewhere that the twin scroll turbo . Has some kind of thermo port to help it cool down . Maybe the sound is related to this not working properly . It may not be closing all the way , there for your hearing more of the exhaust sound coming from a partially opened exhaust gate or door . Or it’s working to slow . Just my guess.
The crummy engine sounds were one of the first things I noticed about the NX350 when I did my test drive. The other virtues of the vehicle outweighed the noise, so I bought it anyway. But it definitely does not sound like a premium vehicle at RPMs above 2500 or so.
The RAV4 will not have this noise issue, since Toyota wisely (for now) has not offered a turbo option in the RAV4. I read that for 2023, Toyota will offer the turbo engine used in the NX 350 in the Highlander. So maybe the poor cousin RAV4 will get this noisy gas guzzling option in the future.
