Can someone enlighten me on the details relating to Wifi and hotspot settings in the NX.
I understand that the Wifi setting is for the NX to connect to the internet for software updates.
But doesn't the NX already have internet connection with Safety connect, remote connect, and drive connect?
In Canada we have Safety, Remote, and Drive connect subscription include. Do any of those subscriptions allow internet connection for the NX to update it's software over the air?
I understand that the hotspot feature is to allow wifi devices to connect to the internet via the NX's connection.
If my NX subscriptions does not have internet access, then how do you use this hotspot feature from the NX? I don't see anywhere in the NX to insert a service provider SIM card to use cellular service for internet connection.

In the U.S. and presumably in Canada, you must buy a subscription (after a trial period) from AT&T in order to activate and use the wi-fi hotspot for internet connections for yourself or your passengers. Be aware, though, that if you tend to use Apple CarPlay, it is almost impossible to remain in Apple CarPlay and also activate and use the wi-fi hotspot, as both require Bluetooth and the NX can connect to only one Bluetooth signal at a time.

Asked my dealer and they said, it's only available in the US
Lexus’s hotspot feature is only for drivers or passengers who can not start a hotspot from their phones in US and it is useless in Canada. If I drive the vehicles sold in Canada to US, can I activate the service with AT&T or is it strictly for vehicles that are sold in US?

Good question, I’m wondering about that too! Since the vehicle’s internet connection required those subscriptions to be active, I guess the Wi-Fi connection setup on the vehicle is useless until all subscriptions expire. When that happen, will those features that require internet connection switch automatically to check for internet connection via Wi-Fi connection to a hotspot from the phone or hotspot outside of the vehicle?
