Default electronic parking brake

So they have an electronic parking brake recall. But my question is, is this the same parking brake system used in both by pressing (shifting to) Park and the EPB button?

Yes and no. Shifting to park has two things happen. 1) the EPB engages and 2) also the transmission engages the parking pawl (like a ratchet).
But yes - the EPB part is the recall item on some NX models. Not sure if it's just the Japanese-bulit ones, or the Canadian-built ones. My VIN isn't affected - or maybe it's just not up to date.

FYI - We have a Canadian model and the phone app says ours is part of the recall.

I stand corrected. Mine isn't affected, so I guess it really is car specific. No recalls on my Canadian NX.

Thanks. mine was made in Canada and I received the warning in my app. I'm sure we will get a letter about a recall soon.

I got the recall via the app.
i read somewhere that it's an update thing that will fix it.
http://media.toyota.ca/releases/toyo...hicles-6878169

But on the recall message it says they are trying to find a remedy.
That's confusing

Is your NX gas only?

The recall seems to be for gas-only NX250 and NX350.

I can confirm that its a firmware update. My NX350 F Sport was one of the last batches made in Japan and I got the EPB recall notice on my app. I scheduled a service appointment last Saturday (9/3) and brought it in to get the update. It took them about an hour and half to apply the update, then I was on my way.

On a side note, I've heard about Lexus costumer service being pretty good and this experience reflected that. I was greeted right away, the staff was friendly, and they answered all my questions to my satisfaction. The waiting area was nice. It had 3 rooms, a TV, comfortable couches and chairs, and complimentary coffee and water.

Keep it up Lexus!
