I got the recall on the app as well. I have had a couple of times a dashboard notice along the lines of “the parking brake did not fully engage”. I felt the back end settle like all other times, but good to know it’s an identified issue. Back to Lexus for some more stale cookies and bottled water while I wait. Sigh.
Somewhat unrelated, but I was able to 'lock' my parking brake and couldn't release it manually or automatically while the car was on. I haven't tried to recreate it yet but it went something like:
Drove car, parked (parking brake engaged), got out (car still 'on')
Got back in, closed door improperly (didn't see the door ajar warning)
Put car in drive (brake pedal depressed), tried to go, parking brake wouldn't disengage, tried to manually disengage it with lever, no good
Noticed door causing error, opened and then closed door fully, tried to drive, parking brake still engaged, tried neutral, then drive, manually disengaging brake, nothing worked
Put car back in park, then put in drive, parking brake finally disengaged, good to go
I'm planning on trying to recreate this as I think it should always allow you to manually disengage the parking brake, and I've also started the car and driven away with a door ajar, so I think the specific steps (hopefully got them right) did it.
According to the site below, my month-old NX350(t) Luxury, built in Cambridge, is on the parking-brake recall list. Living 2 1/2 hours away from the nearest Lexus dealership, I plan to wait until something else - complimentary maintenance, glitch, another recall, etc. - is needed before I take care of this.
