Yes, two days ago in Bridgewater, New Jersey, the same, $5,000. And a very low trade in offer that did not take into account MY market adjustment. I decided to wait.
"Market Adjustment" sure sounds better than what it really is - screwing you because we can. The dealer we used here in downstate Illinois does not do that.
My dealer has a $5k on all hybrid and $10k markup on the 450h+. I just found out the markup was $8k back in January. Though, i think those markup is coming down soon with our current economy situation
Unexpected consequence of the usurious upcharges involves "Gap" insurance.
Standard on a lease and available on a retail finance this covers the difference
or gap between what you owe and what your insurance pays if the car is wrecked
or stolen/not recovered. These have a ceiling based on a % of the original MSRP
so if you finance more than that you may find you are not fully covered.
I'm really lost and confused on the 5k market adjustment and in fact dissapointed. So my wife wanted to buy me a mid size SUV and I originlly wanted the Rav 4 Prime beause I'm a Toyota Guy at heart and always liked and drove them. My wife enjoys the finer things in life and wanted a Lexus if it was going to be a "Toyota" So we obviously ended up with the 450+ which is basically a luxury version of the Prime. My hometown Columbus Ohio, (I live in Southern California) has only 1 Lexus delership there Germain Lexus.
I made inquiries with about 5-6 Lexus delerships and all of them have markup except 3. Louongo Lexus in California, Germain Lexus (So I thought), and Escondido Lexus. Well Escondido Lexus stated that they would no markup but that they would load the car up with every little this possible and add it to the car so you'd end up paying around 67 or so but at least you were getting "Something with that cash, even if that something was overpriced and unwanted. Columbus Germain Lexus said no makrup because they didn't want to rub their customer base in little old Ohio the wrong way but were not expecting any NX450+. Well they got a white and black Fsport 450+ and then said 5k markup. You can imagine how dissapointed I was, but it opened the floodgates for me.
Well last week or 2 weeks ago TONS of dealerships around the country got a couple of NX's minimum of 2 but some got more. Oddly, when I cross shopped acrooss the delerships I got the best deal with Lexus Newport and the color I wanted which was Super Sonic Mica 2.0. I realize that the color isn't for everyone but we love it. anyways sorry about the length of this post but I guess what I'm trying to say is that everyone is marking up even the ones you don't expect but when put to the fire you can negotiate it down if you have a great salesman working with you.

That color was our second choice after Redline. We love bright exciting colors.
I actually did not like Redline, I have 2 Toyota Supra's and I'm probaby biased here but I prefer Rennisance Red 1.0 over any other red I've seen. I think my second choice is Infared, in fact I was a little upset that they didn't go with infared on the NX 2022 as I prefer the infared over Redline. My choice of red has always been below, I found it odd that the BMW Supra red was nearly identical to Redline from what I could tell althought I never really broght both of them side by side. Maybe someone can confirm that for me. Oh I know why I like Super Sonic Mica 2.0!!! When I was younger the Supra I wanted was RSP, not Red. But when it comes to a Supra you can't always pick the color especially when you're 16 so I settled on Red and now I have the closest thing to RSP which is yea Super Sonic Mica 2.0 lol!
The other issue that I think I should point out is that many people believe the Tax Credit to be done for Toyota by October. So while some dealerships offer no Markup, you can bet those dealerships have a waiting list that is long and if you're not towards the front of that list you might miss that Tax Credit Cuttoff Quota.

Lexus of Jacksonville, Florida, is selling all models at MSRP without markups or dealer packs. The managers told me that this is corporate policy that pertains to all dealerships under the Fields umbrella. https://www.fieldsauto.com/

I am also SoCal resident and your assessment of Longo Lexus and Lexus Escondido are accurate. Longo has no markups and no add-ons but as you know it's located in El Monte CA (a dense industrial suburb east of downtown LA where the population of Lexus owners alone probably exceeds your original hometown's population lol). My point is that the line at Longo is longggggg. Lexus Escondido also claims no mark-ups but they do add-ons like ceramic coat and alarm protection for $3000+.
When I bought my IS500 in January I had deposits at Longo Lexus, Lexus Escondido, Lexus Carlsbad, and San Diego Lexus. In the end I had to fly to Santa Fe New Mexico to pick it up for MSRP.
Congrats on the new car.

I suppose that dealers can do what they want to on “market adjustment” but it seemed nuts to me that the Bridgewater dealership did not care that I’d purchased a Lexus before and that, up until my RX450h was totaled last month, I had 100% of the maintenance over 11 years done at the dealership, about $14,000. They chased a longtime customer away by a lousy trade-in offer and a $5000 markup. Why would I ever be a customer again? There are other cars, other dealers, and, most hopefully, more and more ways to buy a car without dealing with a dealership. The question: Do dealerships offer anything of value these days? Is a dealership nothing more than a nuisance middleman that extracts a cut?
