Default NX @ Speed

Is anyone else of the opinion that the NX is particuarly nice to drive at speed?

I was coming back home tonight and found myself tooling along between 90-100 MPH without realizing it. The car was absolutely serene at that velocity - the only car I've owned that was comparable was my '09 Infiniti G37. Anyone else notice this?

This is not unusual for a car in this class. Which cars do you think have a problem at those speeds?

My only concern with such speed is that I don’t think the brakes or suspension could handle an emergency very well.

I don't know that any cars in particular (well, aside from such previous gems as my '74 Comet, '79 Datsun 210, '89 Tempo, etc) have problems, I'm just noting that my NX feels particularly good at those speeds. My '04 RX handles those speeds well, but not as quietly or smoothly as the NX.

Agreed that brakes or suspension won't be at their best in an emergency at those speeds, but that's why we're not supposed to drive like that.

NX does go fast with ease, but on various road surfaces those run flat tires let you know they’re run flats!

LOL, just kidding. Yep, 400-N...and while I was passing people, I wasn't exactly blowing their doors off.

And yes, the run flats make themselves known all right...I'm not generally unhappy with them (the four cylinder engine noise is a bigger irritant to me), but I am pondering the possibility of traditional tires when the time comes. In the 18 years I've owned my RX, the only time the spare has come out has been when I was making sure it still had air and was suitable for service.

My 350h premium with the 18 inch run flats cruise very well at 70-75 mph. The car is quiet and stable for sure. When the run flats wear out, I will most likely put on the Michelin defender LTX

One day my wife might let me drive her NX so I can see how well it does. I know my 2015 RX's "happy place" is 80 - 85. Like you, Dorsai,

We just got back from Lake Tahoe from Sacramento.

The NX 350h had no issue going up the mountain. Interesting coming down the mountain it held its speed nicely without having to “down shift”.

The few times I used the passing lanes it did very well. I was pleasantly surprised.

Averaged 39 mpg.

We have the 18” wheels and I honestly don’t think road noise is an issue.

ha! No, you mentioned Windward a while back and I figured 400 was it. I’m off 10/11 behind windward so I know 400 quite well myself.

Sounds like we're neighbors - 10 is my usual exit point.
