Canada Federal EV Rebate Program Expansion - 450H+ eligible?
I just read the news that starting April 25, 2022, Transport Canada will be expanding the eligibility criteria for federal EV rebate. I think this means 450H+ base with MSRP $59,950 will qualify! I placed an order for 350H now debating if I should change the order. The only concern is with the wait time.
To be eligible:
- A car must have a base model Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price that is less than $55,000. Higher priced versions of these vehicles, up to a maximum Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price of $65,000, are also eligible.
- Larger zero-emission vehicles (e.g., sports utility vehicles, minivans and pick-up trucks) must have a base model Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price under $60,000. Higher priced versions of these vehicles, up to a maximum of $70,000, are also eligible.

The rebate will be 5000 CAD. If you’re ordering the Nx350h ultra premium then switching might make sense, since the difference will not be much after the rebate. The main problem will be the waiting time, I don’t know what is the wait time now for the Nx450h+

In parsing through the details and checking a variety of examples (see here for a primer: https://driving.ca/column/motor-mout...are-ev-fantasy)
The NX450h+ fully qualifies for the $5000 rebate. This includes the "base" ultra premium trim, executive package and F Sport 3 package. The reason is that the trim (Ultra Premium) meets the criteria and Executive and F Sport are just packages or features but not a trim itself.
The only tough pill to swallow will be everyone who has already taken delivery of their 450h+ since it specifically calls out that orders before April 24 are fine but deliveries have to happen after April 25. This was one of the reasons I wasn't in a rush to take delivery or be pushed up on delivery date.
All around happy news for the Canadian NX PHEV team!

I'm anticipating picking up my 450H+ with the Executive Package next week, and I'm hoping for this to be true!

Thanks for confirming the rebate program. I am still hesitant to change my order from 350h luxury to 450h+ ultra premium. Although with the rebate, the price ends up being the same. It's just the wait time is still estimated to be 12-18 months in Ontario.
As it is, the wait times for the 450h+ are just outrageous. I can't imagine just getting in line now for it. My 350h+ order due in June will have to do. In a couple of years, if the wait times improve, I just might switch to the +. Or go full electric.🤪
I am 99.9% certain Executive and F Sport qualify. Read the article I posted.
I called my dealer and 2 others (including my former Audi dealer to understand how Audi vehicle with packages qualifies) and the way they package it qualifies the all 450h+.

I'm just following the chart provided by the government saying ultra premium qualifies.
Well keep in mind that the 350h ultra premium has parking sensors and for whatever reason, the 450h+ ultra premium *does not*
In the TC guidelines for the rebate (https://tc.canada.ca/en/road-transpo...ssion-vehicles)
It specifically says: Vehicles are still eligible for the incentive even if delivery, freight and other fees (like vehicle colour, add-on accessories (e.g., a roof rack), options, and packages) push the actual purchase price over these set limits. As long as a vehicle (the year, make, model, and trim) appears on the list of eligible vehicles, an incentive can be provided.
In the Lexus.ca build tool, the NX450h+ has a single trim (Ultra Premium) and Executive and F Sport are defined as packages to be added (in addition to color and accessories).

Unfortunately, Ultra Premium on the Lexus website also says it's a package (the standard package) and that is why I said the others are not eligible as it's the same page you select "packages". Gray area indeed. I have asked my dealer and waiting for them to confirm with me.
