Hi allI decided to get rid of the run flats and figure I'd report my experience for anyone whose on the fence.
I have the NX 350h Premium out here in Montreal Canada. At first I wanted the Luxury Package but I figured that 6k for the bigger screen, bigger tires, and parking sensors wasn't worth it for me. I did want bigger wheels so I fgured I'd save 6k and buy the wheels I wanted. The other reason I didn't want the 20 inch rims is because of the run flats, reviewers al sang the same time, they were loud. Andrea from motormouth (YouTube car reviewer) did say that the 18 inch wheels were a lot quieter and that the 350 Premium was the best value proposition in the NX line. I'm sorry but those 18 inch wheels with a 65 profile look like donuts and the mags are nice but I find their design would be better suited for a bigger wheel (my opinion).
So I pulled the trigger. I got the 19 inch mags with a 245/55/19 tire. Didn't want to end up sacrificing confort for looks so I went with 19 instead of 20s.
The difference is night and day I didn't think my runflats were loud until I got these traditional tires. I have 3 years of roadside assistance and after that I'll just grab a CAA (AAA) sub in case s#it happens.
My care now truly drives like a luxury car. Now the downside. The TPMS sensors were programmed for my car but still failed. My car is telling me to go to the dealer. Tried resetting them but I'm not sure it worked. I have to drive a bit more.
I'll keep you posted. If any of you have suggestions on how to reset my TPMS sensors I'll be glad to read them.
I think the owners manual has the directions to reset them. Or you might want to take it to the dealer. On another note. Lexus really should have put 19 inch wheels as standard on their NX.

If those new wheels and tires came from a tire shop, they should be able to properly program the car. I have an ATeq tool and had issues until I got the proper codes for all 8 sensors (I have a winter set). That's the secret; you need to have the proper codes for each of the sensors. If that tire shop can't do it, any Lexus/Toyota store can. I had my RX programmed for the winter wheels at the local Toyota shop (closer to home for me) and they provided the codes to me as well. 1/2 the ptice of the Lexus dealership.
I'm always impressed that a manufacturer like Toyota goes to extreme lengths to minimize fuel consumption by even the tiniest amount and then equips those vehicles with the largest wheels and heaviest tires they can source. This is unsprung weight and it equals twice that of static weight in terms of performance. And on top of that is the impact to ride comfort of a tiny tire sidewall and the lesser resistance to impact damage to tire and rim. And then there's the extra cost for everything, from the tires to the fuel. All for the "looks".
My NX 350h on order will have the 20" wheels on it which I would gladly substitute for 18" wheels if the dealer would agree to it (btw, they won't).

Ok thanks. I agree 19 is definitely the sweet spot.

I had to wait a few days to track down the codes so they definitely thought they had the right ones. They asked me to go see them this week. Thanks for the advice.
Whose tires did you end up going with? I’m in Ontario and thought we had some bad roads but I took a trip out east 3 years ago and spent 3 days in Montreal(end of April) and wow were the roads rough.

Very nice, what is the bolt pattern and sizing of the new wheels ?
First, for those that had 20s by default, did you ask the dealership about swapping them for 18s? Curious as to what they said or if they even entertained the idea? Wasn’t sure if it had anything to do with the manufacturer tire warranty as to why they would be unable to do so?
Next, this may be a slightly stupid question but for those that swapped 20s for 19s, did you have to purchase a set of 4 new rims and tires? If so, did you purchase this through the dealership directly or did you go through a third party? Any chance of voiding warranty if going third party (especially on the rims)?
Lastly, if you do purchase the tire protection plan and swap the run flats for conventional tires, I would assume the warranty follows the vehicle and not the tires themselves?
Looking to gather data points for all those following as I think it will help several of us make educated decisions on next steps. I know I would prefer 18s over 20s from a comfort perspective (not look perspective) but given the luxury included 20s by default, didn’t really have much of a choice in todays world!
