Everybody says it's so easy to pop off the trim where the side door lights go in, so I bought a set of trim removal tools. But when I try to use them, there's not even a sliver of space into which to insert the tool. Should I just hammer it? Is there a trick to it?
I bought the same trim removal tool and exactly what you're saying it was too thick to pop out the lights. I used a thin blade putty knife and it worked perfectly.

Yes. They're very tight. On the driver's door, pry at the BOTTOM RIGHT. On passenger door, pry at the BOTTOM LEFT. If you mar any plastic trim, it shouldn't be visible from the bottom.
Getting these this week:

I'll report back when I get them. Parts guy at my dealership wasn't sure if they come with bulbs. I think they have an LED, but I can't find any description that says they do.

I used a stiff credit card (one that is no longer in use as you may bend the card). Worked perfectly.
Trim removal tool didn't work for me either. I tried on one light for 5 minutes to no avail. Then I grabbed a small screwdriver and had lights on both sides replaced in about 3 minutes.
I just installed 2 Lexus logo puddle lights from addcarlights.com. I found cheaper models on Aliexpress but I ordered from addcarlights because of good reviews and the led being quite bright and well focused... With the 15% coupon discount (NEWUSER15) it came to US$40 for the pair, including free shipping.
When I ordered, they asked me several times to confirm whether I wanted a small plug or a large plug. The NX requires a small plug. However, when I received it, it was a universal model with both plug receivers available on the same unit! At first I thought they had sent me the wrong model as I only saw the large plug receiver but then I realized there was a small plug receiver attached opposite to the large one.
Installation was very easy.
1/ Remove the plastic cover. To remove them I used a hand staple remover. I did it from the top but, in hindsight, I should have done it from the bottom as the gap is slightly larger there and if you mark the plastic no one would see it. Luckily, I did not mark the plastic anyway.
2/ Detach the Lexus wiring by pressing on the connector blade to unlock it.
3/ Make sure you have the proper unit for the side you are doing. They are clearly marked L and R. Here, Passenger side.
4/ Connect the original Lexus wiring into the SMALL connector.
5/ As soon at it locks in place, the light will turn on as the door is opened.
6/ Insert the unit in the puddle lamp space. It locks in position. Done!
7/ The logo on the floor is bright. The definition is not perfect but it is similar to all the other I had seen... The photos were taken in an underground parking fully lit.

there isn't any small screw to adjust the sharpness/definition ?
I really wanted to add these to my nx but when I popped the covers off there weren't any plus. I popped the bottom of the door panel and still no plug anywhere

Maybe the wiring is only avaliable on Canadian models?
Looks great, nice and bright. Where did you order from?
This is the part number:
I ordered from my dealership website. I got free shipping directly to my home, your experience my vary. The item description is very vague. My Parts Advisor wasn't even sure if it came with a buld. As you can see in the pictures, it comes with an LED diode. Also, you need to order 2! Again, the description is misleading and says "Left/Right" . That just means it will fit either side.
