Default 2022 NX Rear Bumper Protector

Does anyone have the Rear Bumper Protector installed by the factory/port? I'm debating whether to get my NX with it installed as well. I'd appreciate seeing a picture of the full rear end of your vehicle to get a sense of how it impacts the overall look (feel free to cover up or digitally blackout your license plate if it matters). In particular, I'm looking for Cloudburst Gray, but other colors may be useful to other readers, so feel free to share those too. Thanks!

I don't have it because it provides so little protection.

I think this is a standard accessory on all Canadian spec NX's. This is also the same for all weather floor mats, cargo carpet mat and cargo net.

I probably intend to ask the dealer not to install it. So I might end up having one spare. Any takers?

I've only seen it installed in a red NX and it is possibly the most disgusting eye-sore ever. Truthfully the only colors I could justify this on are Obsidian and Caviar. IMHO every color will make it stand out too much.

Take a look at these pics posted by @Peterun in another thread. Not clouburst gray, but it is the most opposite color you can get, so a good indication.

We had the clear film protection installed on the rear bumper.

I will say there’s not much there to protect but I like that it’s invisible.

My NX350h in cloudburst gray allocation included the rear bumper protector.

I think it actually looks really good on the ultra white. The black roof and all other black parts on the car look so good against the ultra white.

here is a video from Canada showing this bumper piece added at around 1:00 mark.

I also really like one of his other videos showing a comparison from the 2021 to the 2022. I didn’t realize how slow the tailgate was on the 2021. Lexus really improved the speed. He shows that here.

Once I get mine delivered next week, I'll be able to post what it looks like on the white pearl. I didn't ask for it to be added - it's part of a package included in my build that also includes the all weather cargo mat, key glove, etc. I imagine it's a cleaner look without it, but we've had several SUV's and that is a spot on these vehicles that easily gets scratched even though you try your best not to. Since it's functional, we'll probably leave it on despite potentially turning the stomach of @TipsyTonio. As usual, though, if the wife says it needs to go, it will go.

Super helpful picture! Yours is the first I've been able to see on gray. I do like that it doesn't contrast as much with the gray, but I think I'd rather go without if given the choice.

VillageNX, definitely let us know if you do remove it and how well that goes! It's not a terribly expensive add-on, so this might actually be the easiest way to delete the option when a vehicle is already configured with it.

Given that it's not a horizontal surface, I think what you've done is probably the best solution visually. Maybe Lexus will eventually go this route as they do with some of the sedans.

@RKF350 Was the clear film done by your dealer? If so, it is Lexus or aftermarket? Either way, do you happen to have a part number or link, and price? Thanks!

We purchased it when we bought the car. I was told the car was sent out to have it done. This was to assure that dust and what not did not get under the film.
It was included with the door edges, door handles, mirrors, front bumper and hood.
