On average, how far away from my NX can I be to start it with my iPhone and Lexus app ?

Your Lexus app works through the wireless signal, so you can be in China and your car can be in Canada and you can still start it.

Strange but whenever I'm outside of Canada not in local carrier network (wifi or cellular), the Lexus app doesn't allow me to log in.

Use a VPN app on your phone then you set it so you are virtually in USA OR Canada.

My experience is that VPN's will cause the Lexus App not to work properly. The key fob Remote Start is published as having an 80' range, your milage may vary, however.

Ok my bad, maybe I exaggerated it a little bit too much from the opposite end of the world haha It just not a very realistic scenario anyway, and nobody would do that anyway, but my point is you can be anywhere in Canada, or USA to be able to start your car.

Funny bought mine in Nov ‘22 and I’ve driven down to Florida from Canada twice so far in last almost 3 years and my app worked fine. Last trip was Sept ‘24 and all my subscriptions were still active. I also live in Niagara and use to travel over to USA frequently with no issues at all. The Lexus Safety Connect is supposed to work in both US and Canada for both countries of point of purchase. Maybe there is a cellular issue at times for it not to work.

Is the main reason for the auto-start to heat up or cool down your car before entering?
I can't use the app currently, but I tested it with the FOB and it worked:
1. Press the LOCK button. 2. Press the LOCK button a second time within one second. 3. Press and HOLD the LOCK button for about 3 seconds.

It turns off automatically after 10 minutes, correct?

You are correct for pretty much everything you said yourself.

Does the key fob start work independently from Lexus connect and At&t?

No, the fob connects to the car directly but the "permission" for the remote module to command the engine start module must be enabled by the DCM. The DCM is active when you have either a trial or subscription to any Lexus feature. The Service Connect feature has a 10-year trial to transmit vehicle health data to Lexus, the Dealer and to you the owner. If you decline the connection (perhaps you don't wish to be monitored) then the Remote Start fob stops working. If you buy the Lexus used, you must download the Lexus App and Register yourself. You do not have to pay to use the fob, optional to pay if you wish to use the Lexus App. Now the system knows who to contact for Service issues.

Thank you for the explanation, we bought new so 3 year free subscription I believe, then $180 a year.

By the way, I like what you have done to your NX350h Luxury.

I'm assuming that while my remote start feature won't work after 10 years without a renewed subscription for Safety Connect, I would hope the fob would still be 'seen' by low frequency antennas in doors and start button so that you could unlock the car still and get in and turn it on with your fob.

That's only if 4G network is still supported where you are.

The 2037 NX is supposed to come with a neural interface for remote starting your car. you just have to think about warming the car up. Be sure to mentally set in the Lexus brain interface options "do not share my most intimate secrets with Lexus". It doesn't actually do anything, but makes you feel better for doing so.
