Default Detailing Thread

i was looking around the site. Is there a thread on detailing products used for certain areas of your Lexus. From dressings to ceramic coatings you had success with. Even ones that you would stay away from. My search was for a product to get that black plastic trim on the wheel wells back to factory look. Looking dull… Wanna make it pop again

There are lots of posts, just search, and an entire detailing forum. I like Adam’s and many like Griot’s.

There are lots of detailing YouTube videos available by people testing, comparing, or grading all the cleaning products, or winners of detailing products of the year by Pan. Just do the search.

I’ve become a big fan of the DIY Detail products after watching many of their tutorials on YouTube.

303 Protectant has great reputation.

I’ve also had success with Mothers Back to Black.

Some brands like Adam's has good and bad products. I've had decent success with their Graphene VRT dressing which is what you're looking for. But I don't really care for trim care, most of my attention goes to paint care. Adam's Graphene spray is okay, decent shine, easy to put on at least, and pretty affordable. For affordability and ease of use, you might want to try Gyeon Q2 can coat, there's been plenty of success from other users in detailing forums. A more thorough ceramic coating is GTechniq CSL paired with the EXO coating, very easy to put on, but longevity was a bit shorter than I expected, maybe around 8 months before water didn't bead as it used to. Currently, I'm in love with Kamikaze Overcoat 6.0 paired with their Luxe shampoo and Quick Detailer. I've never had paint actively repel dust until I used Kamikaze.
Picture attached is from my last wash. I have 85000 miles on my NX and it's parked outside 24/7

Very nice chumpchang. Awesome looking paint, especially at those miles. Off to check out Kamikaze Overcoat, thanks!

Very informative post as well. Thanks for sharing.

There are so many good products in the market now. Can't go wrong with DIY Detail, Detail Co, Koch Chemie, Armour Detail Supply, Carpro, Gyeon to name a few.

I personally clean my NX with rinseless washes every 2 to 3 weeks. Do interior wipe downs with glass cleaner and interior detailer. Apply ceramic detialer every 2-3 months and clean and dress engine bay every 3 months.

Really there are so many good products out there that it is hard to give you a definitive recommendation.

if you are going to clean your car regularly and not using the scratch and shine carwashes, the it is worth applying a ceramic coating. If you are OK with diy, there are a lot of good consumer grade coatings from the brands mentioned above. If you are not confident polishing paint, then look for some pro detailers with good reviews around you.
