Hello all,

Is there anyway I can watch media on the center display like Netflix/YouTube, etc?

Preferably not just files from a USB stick

I believe you can sideload Android Auto apps that can enable Netflix and YouTube. Sideload meaning the apps are not approved by Google so they need to be downloaded direct from the developer and manually installed (not from the Play Store) and your phone needs to be set to allow non-Play store apps to be installed. I have not tried this myself, but I am aware they have previously existed. Always a possibility more modern versions of AA will attempt to block these though. Some of the apps may involve rooting your phone (altering the Android OS to give yourself elevated admin access to your phone, but also removing many of the built in protections Android offers). For Apple, side loading is not allowed (except in Europe, where they have laws against spending your life on your knees before the Apple corporate gods, LOL). That said, don't do this while driving.

I see, so that would involve pairing an android phone that has the sideloaded applications installed and then using that to watch media on the display

To play Netflix, YouTube etc you will need something like digital dash or Ottocast Play2video for this to work.

I haven’t tried it yet but have one on order as Black Friday deals see 40% off the Ottocast.

Ha ring read up a bit, I believe Ottocast to be the better less laggy product which is plug and play straight out of the box, then connect your phone through Ottocast, bypassing the built in wireless CarPlay or wired Android Auto.

will post more once the box of tricks is delivered…

Update: I think I found a great solution to Youtube/Netflix.

First, I ordered the Play2Video Pro, but I wasn't happy with the slowness and the super bad frame rate, so Ottocast offered to send me a Car TV Mate C3 (the 2024 model which is also a wireless CarPlay adapter, I don't use that portion)

Ottocast made the C3's boot up even faster with the newest update, so make sure to update the box itself when you get it, super easy procedure on your phone.

After purchasing the C3, I just bought a cheap Roku 4k stick for $30 at Best Buy and it works great. Super fast and way better frame rate since the Car TV Mate isn't running a full android setup. I use my phone's hotspot for the wifi connection.

I just picked up the Ottocast to use with a fire stick and it works great. Just make sure you update it to the latest version and you should have no issues or audio lag. Definitely the way to go if you want to watch Netflix or any streaming app on the go.

So Play2Video Pro is slow and laggy on the NX ?
