The dashboard is showing a warning. Brake light is illuminated, the adaptive cruise control symbol is orange, and the the message reads "system malfunction - visit dealer". This is the second time I've seen this warning. The first time I cleaned off the large Lexus badge on the front grill and the warning cleared. I presumed it was a bug debris blocking the sensor. This time when cleaning the badge it did not clear the warning. I am taking it in this morning. The vehicle drives normal except I can't engage the cruise control.
Update on this issue. Lexus service spent a week diagnosing the issue with the Toyota engineers. The issue was a defective brake booster. They described the brake booster as being too sensitive to react with the adaptive cruise control braking requirements. All is good now and the brakes actually feel firmer since the booster was replaced.
I have the same issue, is it safe to drive this situation a short distance before visiting dealer?
