Default PCS warning light

I own a 2005 LS430 with the UL options. Although it has only 58,000 miles on it, the check PCS system message along with the warning light suddenly appeared recently. As a consequence, my cruise control does not work. I cleaned the sensor behind the Lexus symbol on the grill. Evidently that was not the problem. Is there a way to override or bypass the PCS system so that I can use cruise control. I tried the directions in the owners manual to hold the cruise control lever forward for several seconds before engaging it. The result is a warning light to check the cruise control system. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Try disconnecting the negative battery cable for a few minutes to reset all the ECUs. If the warning returns, you may be dealing with a defective pre-collision system.

OP said he cleaned the sensor behind the grill..........what about the grille plate with the Lexus logo?
If i get a large bug splashed on my grill plate I sometimes get the red triangle.

I have the same problem. Although the PCS warning light will go off by itself after I restart the car. Day to day the car working fine, just that the “PCS Not Available” warning come out very often.

Not sure how you solve it, does the front radar need to be replaced?

Default common failure

I read years ago that the original cruise control computer has a very common / near universal failure at around 50k miles. Mine died then but car was under CPO so Lexus fixed it in 2010 or so,,, price listed was around 1K at the time, unfortunately, had I not had the CPO warranty. http://damondougherty.blogspot.com/2...check-pcs.html indicates the issue but there used to be dedicated web sites about it too, complaining about it. Good luck.

Hmm...never heard of this. I've owned my UL since 2010 but checked the service history and the PCS computer was never replaced. At 190k miles now.
edit: read your link and apparently only applies to 05-06 models. Mine is an 04.

I have a lexus ct200h 2011 and mine had the same problem after taking it to a rough road and today my problem is cleared and I am now using my radar cruise control and PCS light is now turned off. The reason is that the calibration of the radar or the alignment of the radar is out and it needs to be recalibrated. Search on youtube “pre collision system calibration” and follow the steps which are in the lexus lx570 video. It’s a bit hard to understand but you will get it. Plug in the computer and it will take you only 10 minutes to calibrate your radar.
