The CC2 are a softer, more comfortable ride. The Pirelli are a bit more firm, with a bit more “road feel”. Honestly, not enough difference to worry about. The CC wins on quiet.

To midcow… my observations are obviously not scientific, but I drive a fairly fixed route and before the CCs my mileage was around 26.7 for months (I reset the counter every 3 months or so). Since the CCs, my mileage is around 25.8 for the last 2 resets. I don’t doubt your reasoning, just my experience.

Okay, thanks for the detail; sorry I am a detailed person. But let me ask you one more question, do you think the mileage change could have been seasonal. I only ask because it seems, with summer blends, the mileage on all cars across the board goes down.

Again thanks for providing some validating data.

YMMV,

also, what did you do in terms of having a spare? There isn’t a spot for a spare tire
I plan to wear out the run flats and replace my 18s or find another Lexus owner with 20” wheels who wants to swap wheels. I’ll go with all season conventional tires. I’m in Chicago so potholes, rain, snow, ice, and heat will factor into my decision when the time comes. We plan to make many road trips after I retire next year, and will carry the modern spare.

Good luck!

I have Michelin CC2s on both my RX and ES and am very satisfied. Read such good reviews about traction in rain since I had an accident hydroplaning many years ago (domestic car). My soon to be new NX will have the runflats but I've looked into the Modernspare kit and will get CCs when these wear down.

I replaced the stock tires (non run flat) with CC2 on my 2020 RX450h when it was at 45K miles. It is now about 50K. Mileage was 29 mpg with the stock tires is now 27 mpg with the new CC2. I'm in No. CA.

My daughter is in Ithaca, NY. She replaced the run flat tires on her 2025 NX450h+ with CC2 when it had 1.5K miles. She told me that the road noise improved just a little bit, but the ride quality was like "night and day." According to her, mileage was about the same. She said that it might be because the mileage of the run flat tires was not great in the first place.

I don’t think so, while I agree on the summer blend, the mileage went down quickly. Reset it at say 26.7 and within a week or two was in the 25s. I had heard about the mileage drop, so I was tracking it pretty carefully. Probably the main reason for my confidence is that I have a very consistent 50 mile round trip highway route for most of my drives. Pretty much the same speed, traffic, etc. every time.

Regarding CC2 tires...I'm ready to replace my run flats with Michelin CC2's. My local America's Tire only has V speed rated tires, not H rated. Thoughts on going to the V speed rating? TIA.

You think you going to reach those speeds? H is for 210 km/h (130 mph); V is for 240 km/h (149 mph). You will be fine with either of those.

Why do people prefer the CC2 over the Pilot Sport SUV tyre? The PS SUV has a better wet rating and will provide better handling.
Obviously if you experience snowy conditions on a regular basis I get the CC2 preference but even then I'd assume most people would get more benefit from the PS SUV's better handling.

I am in Rockland with two NX450h+, both now have CCS2 and to echo what others here have said, ride quality is noticeably better than the run flats and mileage is slightly better. In EV mode I used to get 40 now get 42.

I was considering the Pilot Sport SUV but they don't make them in 18 inch.

I looked at those for my NX but treadwear is 20K miles only.

I'm looking at these Goodyear Electric Drive 2 for the NX450h+
No idea how it performs, but does look like an option

Great tire , a little heavier than OEM at 31 lbs , might see a drop in mpg rating : 700 A A 75km(45K miles)

Here are specs:
tireMake=Goodyear&tireModel=ElectricDrive+2&sidewall=Blackwall&partnum=35VR0EDRV2XLSCT&tab=Sizess, might reduce mpg. rating 700 A A

I am still going with CC2 by Michelin
