A few days ago, my wife and I finally had the opportunity to test drive a 2025 NX450h+. On the plus side, the 450h was solid as a rock, comfortable, and quiet. The run flat tires were no issue. On the “somewhat disappointed” side, I was not wowed by the acceleration and the ML sound system was not as good as the ML system in my 2011 RX 450h. Lots of technology for sure, maybe too much. (The dealer also suggested that there would be a &6,000 markup that would include paint protection and prepaid maintenance.)
Long story short… I think I’ll keep my RX and pocket thst $71,000 for another year or two. Just my two bits…

Yup, you can buy a lot of gas for that money! And a 350h will go a long way on it too! Plus markups shouldn't be that bad either. I agree if I had a an older RX in good repair I would hang on to it for now, it's costing you $0 except repairs insurance and gas, which pretty much every vehicle can't avoid. And for sure insurance on any new car will be more too!

Where are you in CA?
We almost bought an NX450h from a dealer in Fremont - nice saleslady & manager, good price (no "dealer markup" BS), some discount from MSRP ($1K + $1K college grad discount). We planned to buy the vehicle then drive or ship it to the East Coast. The price was nowhere near $71K.
The only problem was that they didn't have the color combination my daughter wanted.
We ended up buying the vehicle across country at about the same price. Story here:

Did you try the acceleration in HV mode or just EV mode?
Our 2025 NX450+Luxury took 3 weeks to arrive at dealer (I believe it was in transit when we were shopping). Total MSRP was $65,735.00 (incl premium paint, panoramic mirror, advanced parking, tow pkg, traffic alert / lane change assist, wireless charging, cross bars and puddle lamps). The lease incentive was $7,500.00. The dealer added (non-negotiable) paint and theft protection packages totaling $893.00. Total discounts from MSRP = $6607.00. The lease amount through Lexus Financial services ended up being $37,128.00 (after our trade in). 25 days after driving away, we received the lease paperwork from LFS. We contacted them them and got the lease buyout number (no penalty for early lease termination). Sent them a check and received the title 60 days later. Fairly painless transaction. Lexus Financial services was a joke, PIA to deal with, and I would never use them again for another Lexus financial transaction. We love the car.

On my recent NX 350 purchase the finance manager pushed us on paint protection & extended warranty’s to the tune of $$$ thousands, we just firmly declined. We always decline those add ons.
I pointed him to the excellent paint on my 7 year old, 95,000 mile trade-in.

Try Lexus of Pleasanton, they don't market $6k. RX has more speakers probably also.

that’s awesome you got a good deal on 2025. I couldn’t get any discount for MY2025 at local dealers around Bay Area. So I went with a deal that was offered to me on MY2024.

What you need is a new RX, not an NX. Get the 2024 RX 500h F SPORT PERFORMANCE. It has the performance and ride you want. The only negative, No ML.
Good Luck in your decision
YMMV,
MidCow3
P.S. - I kept one 6-speed performance car for when I need the adrenalin fix, but most the time I just cruise in luxury
HV. Wasn’t bad… just not as good as I anticipated. (And hard to compare to my current RX that has a 6 cylinder.)
Interesting. I've owned a 2010 RX450h, but I prefer the driving dynamics of the NX450h+ over the RX. The center of gravity and the electric torque. From a smoothness perspective, the RX is smoother, but with my Sport S+, I do feel the NX is faster.

So true IMO. Also, you are probably paying a lot more $$$ for the RX450h. NX450h+ is a great deal if you don't need the space.
