I have a 2025 NX450h+ and this is the most unreliable function; I've read the forums---press the button, back up, back way up, click your heels together 3x, turn in a circle, counter clockwise, say a short prayer then sometimes, maybe, if you're lucky, it closes. Mine works about 25% of the time, the dealer tells me I'm not doing it right, I'm backing away from the car too slowly, then too fast, then too close, now too far. This is ridiculous, especially for a Lexus, I've had this function on my Ranger Rover, Escalade and Jeep Grand Cherokee, you press the button you walk away, it closes---this should not be this hard. Hopefully Lexus will have a fix for it. Otherwise, my 450h+ is flawless, I gas up about every 3 months and charge weekly; never any problems at 5 months.

P.S. - You can always just push the close only button, then push the car lock button ----> works 100% of the time

Yup, that's what I do as a work around, push the close, then lock, indeed works 100% of time, but for $69K LEXUS, I don't think I should need a Buick work around. This is my first Lexus, I'm a Porsche guy, but they haven't changed the Cayenne style in a while, so I switched....in my Porsche, I paid a lot, but it worked like something I paid a lot for. Maybe if Lexus drops the price they can justify a 2-step work around for function that should just close and lock the hatch, it's not gene splicing. I expected more from Tahara. I'm learning to lower my expectations and be happy

THe idea behind close and lock button is that you press close and lock then you grab a bag or two while the door is waiting for you and then when you make a step back it will start closing. So do this, press close and lock then stick your head under the door for a sec like you grabbing something 
then step away just enough that the door will not hit you and watch the magic happen
