I second this.

Each person has different preferences and also circumstances change. In this particular case, I would choose RX.

That is why I picked the (older) RX more than 10 years ago. Now we pick up another NX (1) due to the cost - unfortunately (2) we do not need that spacious space anymore -- or I can sacrifice it for less money this time... If we pick RX this time, it would be around $10K more not $2K with similar specs.

My own observations certainly align with this as well. Every time I drive by Lexus dealership, the RX seems to have a stronger presence on the lot compared to the NX. It was surprising with the RX reportedly outselling the NX in 2023.

Most years the RX is the best selling model doubling any other Lexus model. It out sells all sedan model combined.

With the caveat, the RX is mainly designed for the land of wide roads, big trucks, and cheap gasoline, which is also Lexus' largest market. In Europe for instance, the NX outsells RX by 2 to 1. Here in Canada where we have the wide roads and big trucks but gas prices halfway between US and Europe, the NX is a close second.

Probably not gas prices since NX and RX are not too far off in mpg. It's probably price sensitivity.

Depending upon the model, I guess.

I came from a 2022 RX350 F-Sport that got less than 20 mpg to an NX350h which has been getting just under 40 mpg in my two weeks of owning it.

You have to compare like models, can't compare gas and hybrid. RX 350h would also get 35+ mpg.

My 16 RX350 averaged around 20 mpg local 29 mpg hwy with 19 gallon tank or around 532 miles per tank. 24 NX250 about 25 mpg local and 35 mpg hwy equals around 490 miles per tank. The RX with 14 gallon tank would just make to 400 miles. I know the RX is AWD and the NX I have is FWD do not know how much a difference that would make.

AWD typically makes a 1 mpg difference for highway/combined mpg with most cars and looks like same with NX.
https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/bymo...Lexus_NX.shtml

(BTW, the page seems to have a typo since it lists 350 AWD twice. I think the first instance should be 350 FWD.
Edit: I contacted fueleconomy.gov and it turns out the lower mpg on their page for the 2nd 350 AWD is actually for the F-sport model, not for FWD.)

2025 NX width = 73.4 inches

2025 RX width = 75.6 inches

75.6 minus 73.4 = 2.2 inches needs a wider road ? Okay

YMMV,

When you drive in many European cities, every millimetre matters, let alone inches. There are spots you need to drive with mirrors folded and have millimeters of gaps on either side.

And don't forget parking, 2 inches is the difference between exiting via door or window sometimes, lol. And frequently roads have no shoulders. Around here they mount plastic warning signs across the road in some residential neighbourhoods that cars must pass thru that might rub mirrors if you choose not to be slow and careful. In Europe they put trees in the middle of the road and side edge of the road in an offset fashion that requires tight maneuvering, no mirror rubbing, there its mirror (possibly side panel) removal if you aren't an accurate driver. Especially when approaching villages from a no speed limit stretch of road. I've been to the Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France area more times than I can remember (along with most other countries there one or twice), I laugh at the local warning signs they use here, I speed up (slightly, just cuz I can) to go thru, its like a canyon in comparison even with a wider car.

Here is a comparison of the two by J D Power. Have both and they are different. If one is considering both really need to drive both for awhile both highway and local roads.

Do you agree with the JD Power comparison? Surprised that they have RX besting NX even in the value category.

Price is one factor for sure. But it's also because the RX has an image of being stolen a lot. Majority of the Lexus vehicles stolen in Canada is the RX. It's like 95 to 5.
