Turning off auto headlight washers
Hi Everyone,
This is an awkward question but does anyone know how to turn off or disable the auto headlight washer when you pull the windshield washer lever? I believe the headlight washer comes on every 3-4 pulls of the lever and/or only when the headlights are on but either way, reason I wanted to ask if anyone knows how to turn this off is because the headlight washer makes a huge mess with the washer fluid from time to time with it's large overspray (I detail my car quite often and the headlight washer fluid really messes up the work I've put in by spraying and misting the whole side and front of the car unintentionally).
TIA!

I thought the headlight washers were linked with the windshield washer and wipers. Mine seem to only come on when I pull the washer on to clear the windshield and only the first time. Perhaps you're pulling the wiper control arm in a bit when you activate it and that triggers the headlight washer? Just a guess.
Soysauce this may be a 'customizable feature' that a Lexus dealer can change for you. I had mine setup the key fob so that I can hold down the unlock button, and while it's being held down it will open all 4 windows and the sunroof. As soon as you lift up your finger off the button the windows stop moving, you cannot remotely raise them though. This can be used to quickly remove hot cabin air before you enter your car. I also had them increase the number of turn signal flashes from 3 to 5 flashes when you tap your signal stock to pass. The dealer did this for free, I don't know how long the 'free customizable service' is available, maybe one adjustment per feature so you don't constantly ask them to re-adjust the same feature over and over again. They may be able to make some kind of adjustment on the headlight washers but for sure they would only function when you use the washer stalk to wash the windshield. Maybe instead of every 4 times you cycle windshield washer it may be able to go to 5 or 6 or maybe even off completely. You would have to ask a technician what limitations they have at their disposal. For instance I instructed them to only open the four windows and not the sunroof and he said it's all or nothing so my sunroof opens with my windows, for the flashers he said from 1 to 5 so I chose 5.

Not sure if this list is the exact same for yours, but don't see the washer setting in this list

Each Lexus model has a different set of customizable electronic features. Depending on the model, programming of these features is performed once at no charge either at the 30-day/1,000-mile scheduled maintenance service, or the 6-month/5,000-mile scheduled service. Programming of some Lexus Personalized Settings
- requires special equipment and may be performed only by an authorized Lexus dealership. For more information, please see your local Lexus dealer.
*The Lexus Personalized Settings (LPS) can be programmed in two ways: For select settings, the driver can modify these settings themselves through the vehicle display screen. Other setting changes must be performed by your Lexus dealer via a one-time, complimentary offer during the first 12 months from the date the vehicle is sold.
Thanks DaveGS4. Not sure if our latest diagnostic infrastructure used on NX has been considerably updated from earlier Techstream diagnostic software platform, I've heard Toyota may be moving on from Techstream soon. Either way I'm certainly no expert, I figure if we've got a counter of sorts used for when to activate headlight washer, the tech may have an option like 0-10 or something. Obviously it's connected to activating the window washer so you may be able to set it to a 0 (zero) just guessing.
In the manual it says "Pull the lever. The front wipers and washers will operate. The front wipers will automatically operate a couple of times after the front washers operate. Vehicles with headlight cleaners: When the headlights are on and the lever is pulled and held, the headlight cleaners will operate once. After this, the headlight cleaners will operate every 5th time the lever is pulled."
I also looked through all the customizable features in the manual and the only one that is relative and available that can be change only by the dealer is this -> Windshield wiper linked headlight illumination On or Off. There are no other settings related to windshield washer.
Finally, as a side note, there is awesome OBD II device available that only works on Toyota/Lexus vehicles with lifetime updates, which does almost everything that they can do at the dealer, you can also do it yourself, of course it is smaller and slower, but you can do a lot with it yourself. Anyway, looks like it is currently not available on Amazon :-( but you can read about it here, or find it somewhere else, and also there is a video about it below all the description with Scotty Kilmer - https://www.fjcruiserforums.com/prod...1ee80845d1212/

Get the real thing that the Toyota/Lexus Technicians use. Then you can do everything they do.

Thanks everyone for your inputs! I wonder if I pull the lever only once, does it count as 1 towards the 5 before the washer comes up lol or if it's only after 5 consecutive pulls of the lever. Guess I'll have to try and find out.
I also read somewhere that the washer may come up when your lights are auto on at that present time. I'll check it out and report back.

$120, but I think it worth every penny
considering that it will be up to date with latest and greatest software for life; and yeah there is no options for washers, it is like Techstream, just under different shell/package. I mean the option is not to pull the lever 15 times I guess
, it should only spray once every 5 pulls, but if everything set to automatic with rain sensing, if they got that, than maybe it will not spray much or at all at your headlights.
