NX450h -- how to order?
I'm intrigued by the NX450h and since I already own a competing PHEV that I'm ready to replace, I wanted to look into it. Unfortunately, the closest one I could find is several hundred miles away from where I live. So I called my local dealer and asked how long it would take to get one if I ordered it.
The answer shocked me, because he said I couldn't order one, and I would never find one locally. There would be no dealer allocation because the factory "doesn't like to send them to these parts".
Can this really be true?

There is a member here "djrees", who I believe lives in NV and bought a RX450h+ from CA. He figured out how to get it, even though it wasn't available locally -- you may search his posts or ask him by messaging him. Just a thought.
(Yes, I find it really strange that Lexus just chooses where to sell - not sure if this was the case before Covid & supply-chain issues ?)

The Plug in Vehicles go to the low emissions states first. Then the rest of the country

If you want one. Contact the dealerships in those states.

Just amazing -- I've never heard of such a policy before. Thanks to those who answered my question.
I'll just cross it off my list, because if they can't sell them locally they likely won't have the expertise to service it either.
What a shame, it's such an attractive car (to me, anyway)!

That's a pretty crappy dealer. When I ordered my NX I already had a deposit for a RAV4. Both deposits were fully refundable if I changed my mind before delivery.

aren’t there laws against that? Over here sales people say all kinds of things but ultimately they are required by law to refund it if the order is cancelled at any time. I had a 350h on order with deposit rate I cancelled and got a refund.

I called around based on this sheet when I was getting mine.

They can and I have had minor work like oil changes done there. They just cannot do any warranty work.
