NX and body side moldings
IMO, this thread has gotten off topic. I'm not looking to post and host a debate about body side molding. Sorry, those are unhelpful responses.
I asked if anyone has body side molding installed by themselves or by a professional with instructions. Ugh, I called the dealer and got the answers.

I installed BSM on both of my 24’s. There are excellent videos online that show you how to do it that are a huge help. If you’re good with a tape measure and tape (I used blue painters tape) it’s very easy.
On my Subaru’s it was MUCH easier because they gave you a cardboard template to tape onto the car and you simply stick em. With Lexus they give you a measuring diagram.
Any other questions - ask away.

I installed the Lexus NX BSM myself. Took about an hour to do it carefully. The cost of product is almost nothing compared to the cost of the car or a repair hassle. I think it looks fine, but do realize it does offer only marginal protections from a jerk.
The way I approach it, I always look for a safe spot. The BSM is just a backup, if all fails.

Installed the OEM side molding for this vehicle. Once you remove the protective plastic and expose the molding tape , it is extremely "sticky". If you were going to place the molding on a flat surface positioning of the molding would be easy, but the molding is straight but the door panel is not , so when positioning the molding, start the first contact at the door back and carefully bend the molding away from the front of the door. If you do not bend the molding , the front of the sticky molding will contact the door panel first. I suggest you mark your positioning tape, then lay the molding along the future final location "prior" to exposing the molding double sticky tape. This will help you see how you will "rock" the molding into position while avoiding first contact at the front of the door....... once the molding tape contacts door panel, it does not want to easily be repositioned. Do the "dry run" and it will be easier to visualize what I am talking about.
Yes, installed them and it was easy with instructions provided. Per dealer, use Simple Green to clean prior. Look great.
