Default Run flat tires replacement

Hello,

I have read in the forum that the NX rides softer if the run flats are replaced by regular all season tires.

I am not used to AAA or Lexus so I have a question.

If I replace the tires for regular tires and I get a flat. What good will calling Lexus or AAA will do?

I still won’t have a spare, so they will come to help and do what?

Sorry if it’s a dumb question.

Thanks,

Get these tires : 245/50 20 Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3 , 70,000 mile warranty, treadwear 800, traction A , temperature A - $246 each. ( non run flat ) .
Without a spare AAA or Lexus can't really do much if the tire sealant doesn't work.

Good Luck

YMMV,

Midcow3, did you put these on your NX? How do they ride? My experience with high milage tires are that there hard riding until they warm up. No experience with the pirelli's.

I plan to replace my wife's NX350h with non-RF after those RF wears out. Then get a can of those tire flat sealant kit with built in inflator.
The probability of getting a flat is low and i will take my chance. If the sealant ruins the tire, so be it. I rather save time on the road if she is by herself.

I am going too when the original tires wear down; I am for sure not getting run flat tires ( heavier, noisier just by their nature) I don't drive that much (retired, mainly between two places 65 miles apart cabin, main house and grocery store) and 3 of my cars are mine so that puts less on each vehicle. I just took the NX for 10,000 mile service

Peace and good Tiring

My wife has these on her Equinox, so a similar comparison. They are great tires. Good feel and quiet. I wouldn’t say they ride hard, but they are firm, which gives a good road feel. They will be going on my NX once the stock RF’s wear out (at about 20k miles by the look of them now).

Hey I hear you with being retired and driving less. I don't have 3 to drive but I do have 2. Picked my 350 f sport up in August and have 800 miles on the beast.

They could:
- fix the flat, if fixable with something like fix-a-flat.
- if not fixable, tow the car to a place of your choosing — tire shop, dealer, your house, etc.

When you call they will ask if you have a spare. If not, they will send someone with a flatbed.

Btw, check how much towing the Lexus plan offers. AAA standard is just a few miles after which they start charging for it by the mile. AAA Plus offers much more.

Have these on my 2017 RX 350h. Have 10,000 miles on them. Wearing well. Love the ride and quiet. Will get these on our 2023 NX350h when we need new tires. Tire Rack has these and the Michelin Cross Climate top rated.

Thanks,
I have replaced the runflats with same size Continental Premium Contact 6 XL C with "Contisilent" technology, making the car near-silent and very smooth ride. I have a standard repair kit that fits in the trunk mouldings. There is no difference in roll with all suspension settings, so I'm very happy with them.

@esotof I have put the Pirelli's mentioned above on my 23 NX 450H+. I couldn't stand the Run Flats and swapped them out at 2,800 miles. And YES, I left the tire shop without the Run Flats. I said they could have them.

I was looking at the Michelins and decided to go with the Pirelli's after discussing the differences with @43sbest . He was spot on and I thank him all the time for the suggestion and recommendation. I also purchased the Modern Spare full kit (spare tire and all the tools). YES it is a large out of pocket experience but it is a decision you have to make. A lot of folks mention they have never had to change a tire. Others have said it was too expensive. And others LOVE the Run Flats. I made my decision based on my families needs. And now you can too.

Good luck and Merry Christmas to everyone.

more than expense doesn’t the spare consume a lot of space in the already small trunk?
