Does this replace the fob. Can it be used to lock/unlock...start engine and go about my business. I used it to start the motor but got a notice saying motor will shut off in 10 minutes. What exactly is it suppose to be capable of. The app for one of our other cars replaces the Fob. Thanks, Frank

 

If you got the "digital key" option with your car, then you can install one inside the app, which then turns it into a bluetooth based key. It does work, although some have had mixed experiences,

 

No digital key.
It does lock/unlock/status. I have to get more info and experiment.

EDIT: Tried again.... engine started.... stopped....got out... alarm went off. I'm not using the app other than getting status reports

 

Not sure about those notices. I Remote Start mine all the time. When I get to the car its cooled off nicely.

 

For remote start--how far from the car can you be in order for it to work?

 

I’m not sure if it’s me or something needs to be looked at.

 

I know it says in the manual but I don't remember the actual distance. I typically hit it as I'm paying and getting ready to walk out.

 

I believe the remote start via the app uses the car's built in cellular connection so there's no distance limit, unlike using the key fob.

 

This makes it sound like you're trying to use the remote start while in the car. Are you?

 

I started while outside and got into Car. Says it will shut off in 10 minutes. I’m going to unlock by remote. Get into car and try start again.

 

Quitting for now. I rebooted the app now I can’t get back on.

The NX is my wife's car so I may get this wrong but heres the flow when using the remote start as I understand it. If you start the car via the app, it will start, run for 10 minutes, and shut off.
When you get in the car and it is still running, it does not sgut the car off, but you still need to press the brake and press the start button to be able to drive it.

Having nothing but grief and aggravation. I'm not using the Lexus CrAPP a while.

 

I experimented using the app last evening to lock, unlock and try to start the car. It worked to lock and unlock but not start. When I tried to start I got the alert to touch my key to the start button. Nothing much happened so turned the car off and started it again without incident. I won't be trying that again :-)
