Default 2024 NX350h Dashcam

Hello everyone,

I have been reading about NX350h since 2022 on this forum and this is my very first thread.
After putting deposits in multiple dealers over NYC I finally received a call from one of the dealers that my car will arrive in two weeks.
Long story short, the car came with bunch of mandatory port-installed stuff and there is no option to add an integrated dashcam for $375. However, the dealer can install it for $900 (including tax). This is a bit too much for me so I plan to buy it and install it myself.

Does anyone know if the dashcam on 2024NX is the same as ones installed in 2022-2023NX (PT949-76221)?
And if anyone can share a video on the installation that is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

it’s almost certainly the same part number. You need the Y harness as well. I installed it myself. Get it from Bell Lexus as it’s cheaper. You don’t need a video. It’s easy to install if you follow the directions. Just don’t break the clip on the white white plug or the clip on the passenger side of the ceiling consul when pulling it down. If you’re tall I’d recommend installing it on the passenger side rather than driver side. It blocks my eyesight. To be honest I would get the fitcamx instead as it looks better and has higher quality footage. Lexus one is a huge eyesore.

I'd first try negotiating the install with the dealer. You are, after all, buying a car from them. Labor for them is very negotiable. I have the factory cam because it came with it, and I usually prefer OEM parts.

For that price, they should buy you dinner and flowers first. Dealers around here charge $600CAD (< $500USD) for the same cam installed.

As Aloha said, FitCamX would be worth a peek too. It's more integrated appearance than the Lexus cam is, has higher res, comes with the right harness, and installation is simpler as well while involving similar steps to plug into the existing overhead console area. The only thing the Lexus cam has as advantage is it encodes GPS data into the videos, FitCamX does not.

your dealer (if they are nice and willing to help you) can contact the port before the car arrives and get it added as PIO. This will save you on the labor cost.

Thanks,
Avoid the lexus dealer offered dashcam, it is overpriced and very low quality for what you can get on third party dashcams. My recommendations:
  • if you value OEM look, get the FitcamX
  • If you value cloud connectivity, aka keep your videos safe even if dashcam gets stolen or damaged in an accident, get a Blackvue. They haven't updated their image sensor so still Starvis 1.
  • If you want the best of the best now and don't mind spending a lot, get the Thinkware 3000 with Starvis 2 sensor.
  • Best value/bang for buck, get a Viofo. Best one now is the a139 pro with Starvis 2.
There are plenty of videos in YouTube on bow to install and hardwire all these dashcams. Or if you are not comfortable doing it, you can get a quote from an auto audio, auto electrician, airtasker to install the dashcam for you. Cost can range from $100 to $200.

How did you get the cable through from the A Pillar all the way to the rear? do you just tuck it behind the side window curtain airbag? saw your comment about not breaking the clip on the ceiling and noticed it was quite tight.

Why would you need to go to the rear? This is for the lexus one, there is no camera in the rear.

Hi jihui88, (and all)- Please know I just now joined the forum, so will gladly relieve you of rookie status (we were all rookies once, after all...). And the definition of an expert is to know more than your audience so thanks in advance for your expertise in the area of Lexus OEM dash cams. I take delivery of my 2024 NX350h (Luxury) later this month and want to add the OEM Dash cam that you have installed on your car. I'm struggling, however, to find specific information as to the part numbers of the cam and harness, and installation instructions, for our car. Apparently I am at the same point as you were when you started this thread and will be very grateful if you would care to share your experience regarding hardware selection and installation instructions (written and/or video)? I hope you are enjoying the ****** out of your NX, and I look forward to same very soon. Thank you.

Never thought of getting one, but recording an entire trip with it and having access to the video in the cloud, on the app, etc...hmmm.

Do you have fond memories of when you were a kid and went on family vacations, often to the same place each summer? The roads you took to get there are mostly gone probably, depending on how old you are. Imagine if you had a 4 hour video of the drive you took each summer back in 1978 or whatever year. I would love to make a business out of this somehow, but you would be recording now for way in the future.

If someone had a video of the road I took each year all those years ago, I would pay for that.

Holly Shores campground in Cape May NJ. A vid of this place in the early 70's would be priceless.

Off topic and on a funny note, I was stuck in Tampa for the hurricane and when it was over the news showed people going out and swimming in the flood water. I guess swimming in sewage is fun. They are probably the same people that ran behind the mosquito fogger truck in the campground during the 60's and 70's.

My vote for a dash cam is that Viofo a139 pro. I am leaning towards this myself.

I'm in Australia and It is a necessity for me to have a dashcam. If you are involved in an accident, from personal experience, most people will lie and pin the blame on you. Also, I was involved in a hit and run 3 years ago, and ofc the insurance company and the cops couldn't trace the culprits, so I had to pay my $800 insurance excess, which also increased my premiums for the next 3 years.

Even for a fancy $1,000 dashcam, it pays for itself, when god forbid, you ever get into an accident by saving you in insurance cost.

I got the OEM dash cam installed at the dealer for $560

It varies HUGELY so I recommend calling around every local Lexus dealer. One Lexus dealer said it will cost $900 (charging $150/hr for labor), but the one I decided to go with said it's only $50/hr because it is an accessory.

After one of the dealerships provided the factory installation instructions for the OEM Integrated dash cam, I decided that it was more than I want to handle so switched my strategy to shopping the local Phoenix area dealerships for parts and labor to install the cam. $1300 was the usual quote. My dealership agreed to install it for $1,000 when my car arrives later this month. I find value in that I don't have to install it and can focus my remaining brain cells to other aspects of the new car. Thanks for all the advice, It helped.
