I have a Lexus NX350 F-Sport, I have not been able to find a hitch that will fit it. I know the activity hitch can be installed but it is only rated at 100 pounds. If I add the bike rack (30 pounds) and 2 e-bikes (about 45 pounds each) that is over the rating. Does anyone know or have a tow hitch on their F-Sort.
You have to run a wire from the battery all the way back to the hitch. Lexus says you would put too much of a load on the LED system if you try to splice in at the rear end. You have to remove the windshield wipers and the wiper motor plus the metal and plastic panels that they rest on. You have cover the wire with lithium grease just to pull it through the firewall and then remove the three panels under the steering wheel. Then you have run it next to the drivers seat and then next to the rear seat pulling plastic panels all the way. You have to remove everything in the rear compartment on the floor and both side panels. You then have to remove the complete rear bumper that you see sitting on the floor. Cars now days are just plastic panels that snap together and require a good set of non scratching nylon tools to push and pull the panels and the connectors. I didn't see George's plan but Lexus will supply you with the instructions if you buy the parts. The wiring instructions were 16 pages long and mostly just pictures with vague directions suited to a trained technician. I got the car back together and ithe wires are working correctly. Oh and you have to disconnect the negative battery cable the whole time you are working so you don't accidentally set off an airbag.
My NX F-Sport has not come in yet, but, the dealer is saying they can install it. They put a caveat that they will need to look at it first. Most hitch places I called do not have a hitch for the F-Sport. With all these challenges I am debating getting a different trim level. In your and anyone else's opinion is the F-Sport worth the challenges?
I'm not sure if it was here or rav4world, but the highest departure angle hitch is the factory hitch, which requires cutting the bumper cover with a factory supplied template and instructions. Why would a tech not be able to cut the Fsport cover just the same?
I am not sure why. I called U-Haul, e-Trailer and a few custom hitches they all said they do not have a hitch for the F-Sport
Could you elaborate what needs to be cut? Lexus are VERY against changing the vehicle to the point of voiding the warranty if covered parts are are impacted.
thanks

From the very next hitch thread. DO NOT HAVE THEM CUT THE SIDE NOTCHES, ONLY THE CENTER. This is the plastic bumper cover. Plastic is plastic, Fsport, NX, or Rav4 is all the same install. There is a lot of good info in some of the other hitch threads you should see to make a more informed decision, especially as it relates to departure angle. Rav4world also has pictures of all the brands of hitches and where they come out of the bumper.
That is crazy if you have to cut the bumper and not straight it wont look too good. Gives Lexus an excuse not to cover anything on the back bumper, lights, air bag sensors, kick switch etc......

This is neat cut & trim in GS.
Here's a dirty example.
