Car does not let me accelerate after false positive warning
I've only had mine for a few weeks now, but I have experienced a number of safety warnings but all have been as expected. The RCTA and FCTA is fairly common occurrence for me, but its always because there is a car coming. I had my first rear automatic brake activation yesterday too. Backing into garage slowly and wife decided to walk behind as I was doing so. Wow, sounded like I just slammed into a concrete wall, Huge brake noise, warning tones blaring, screen flashing red "BRAKE!" messages. Only thing missing was automatic deployment of the defibrillator to restart my heart afterwards.
From looking at the photo and the mirror, it looks like you don't have the 360 camera system on the car. I'd suggest that if it was so equipped, the driver likely would have seen the item that was hit before it was and could have taken avoidance measures. The cost of this repair would go a long way to paying for the upgrade package. Similar argument I make when people suggest winter tires are a waste. Avoiding just one trip to the ditch likely pays for the tires & wheels. Just my $.02, though.
