I had my back seat folded down for an extended period and now I see this damage. When folded down, the back seat rests on the seat belt holder and this was the result. There also appears to be damage to the upper portion of the seat. This seems to be a design flaw. Has this happened to anyone else and were you able to correct it? I hope this is not permanent damage as I don’t see any way to fix the crease.
It should dissipate over time. I've had my back seats also down for periods of time but once back up any creases disappear. However mine is leather, but would think either leather or nuluxe would behave the same way, maybe nuluxe even better.
Thanks for the reassuring comments. I was disappointed to see this with my new car but as indicated above it should go away with time. For anyone else reading this, it would be a good idea to put some cushioning material, like a think towel between the seats when folding them down, as mentioned in a post above.
My son works in a car seat factory. It is fairly common to get creases in seat material that requires steaming corrections.
Thanks. However the dent in the picture is actually because the foam material behind feels like it has moved. The seat material itself does not seem to be damage. Again I am now hopeful that it will get better over time.
Your car is still covered by the full factory warranty. I would hit up the dealer and see what they think and if they can remove it quickly. Tell them the same thing you mentioned in the original post. You’re using the car as it’s intended to be used and something went wrong in the design process if it severely creases when the seats are folded. They probably have a steamer or something they use for all the used and CPO cars they sell.
