I actually don't mind the touch pad at all. Both my wife's NX and my RCF have it. What I hate whole heartedly is the joystick thing prior to the touch pad. That was really bad from Lexus...
I don't really like touch screens because then it gets finger prints all over the screen. As mentioned above it's nice not having to lean forward somewhat to touch a screen. The touch pad down at the center console works well for me, I can simply glance with my eye and never have to really move my arm/hands. But I do wish the interface was better. Lexus infotainment is years behind for some reason compared to everyone else out there. It's amazing to me in this day and age with the two most used platforms of IOS and Android that we don't have something that is just as standard looking as those.. 90% of people already use those, yet we are forced to use a clunky system when you step foot into a vehicle because the manufacture wants their own thing..
I feel the same way. I don't mind the touchpad at all. I hate fingerprints all over my screen.
I really wish they'd give us sort of a hybrid. I can't remember which car it was, but it had real physical buttons, but they had dot matrix displays on them that changed to show different functions depending on what the screen was displaying. That's damn cool.

I completely agree with this, however I didn't mind the older joystick. Our new RX has both a touch screen and a touchpad. The screen has sort of an anti-glare surface, probably because it was moved closer to the driver. The result is that it doesn't show fingerprints as bad, but it still shows some. The problem is you still have to lean into it a bit so I still tend to use the touchpad. For the passenger though - the touchscreen probably works better as they can lean and fiddle all they want (and in my case they are right handed so using the left hand to run the touchpad is more difficult). Just my opinion based on our early observations.
