Default Experience with Ordering a Vehicle

I've been looking for a well-equipped NX 300 F-Sport. While there are plenty of black ones available (with various interiors), and many with the Roja Red interior (various exterior colors), neither one of which I want. I've reached the conclusion that the only way I'm going to get the exterior and interior colors along with the options I want is by ordering. Questions:
  • Is the price still negotiable for an order, or is MSRP the norm?
  • How long does it typically take between placing the order and delivery of the car?
Thanks in advance for your help.

The best deal you can ever get is when a car is on the dealers lot. (most negotiable). You will pay close to msrp for ordering and have to deal with waiting anxiety, shipping dings/issues after all that long wait versus just inspecting a car on a lot. Who knows by the time it ships they may announce a fully redesigned and better NX for 2021 and you will be kicking yourself..

You gotta see that one coming.. The 2019 redesigned Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is getting 40 MPG compared to the year before getting in the low 30s. The NX is in need of redesign just to keep up with the RAV4.

If you only have one interior and exterior color choice and very specific options that you want, you need to order the car. Lexus dealers usually only order models in three or so option levels and this is based on the region you are in. Order will take a few months and probably less of a discount because the dealer has to do more work. I would anticipate an additional $2000 or so if order a vehicle vs buying one on the lot.

Just ordered a new 2020 NX 300h the 1st of August to replace my current 2015. Ordered same color and interior, plus about every accessory I could. Car was built in Japan 9/18 and was to ship 9/28. Salesman says car will be here maybe end of October. 🙏

Thanks for all the responses. Last night, I found a car with the color and options I wanted. It had just become available, evidently having been a special order that someone canceled.
