Exclamation Question about power drop

I have a 2017 NX200t. I was driving last night about 45 mph on a level road and the car had a sudden loss of power causing it to momentarily slow down like it had run out of gas and then resumed speed. A yellow light flashed on the information display between the speedometer and tach. It was not on long enough for me to see what it indicated. The car ran okay after that incident. I brought the car to Auto Zone this morning for and OBD scan and the tech did find any error code. The tech did suggest I bring the car into the dealer because they have better testing equipment. I filled the tank two days ago and use premium gas and still have 3/4 tank. Has anyone had this occur to them and know the cause?

Flashing and a power drop sounds very much like traction control having kicked in. Were you passing a puddle or something when you noticed?

No. Now that you mention it, I had just gone around a medium-to-sharp curve in the road where I had to slow down from 55 to 40. It bogged down (felt like I hit brake instead of gas) when I stepped on the gas again to resume speed.

I just called Lexus dealership and told the service department manager about the situation. He didn't seem concerned and told me as long as the car was running okay with no error lights then don't worry about it unless it happens again. I still have two years and 30K miles left on my factory warranty. Lexus Corporation wasn't any help either.

some older lexus cars like ls460 had this problem when not using toyota engine oil. I dont have any info on the nx....but at least service advisor doesnt think its worth bringing in. if it happens again and you can replicate, I suggest recording video on your phone for proof.

The traction/stability control is these vehicles is a little overly aggressive...95% chance it was triggered.

Yeah, sounds like the overactive traction control system kicking in. Mine even does it while going straight and in 1st or 2nd gear after the ECU reflash - granted, I have 255 width tires that redistribute grip from longitudinal to lateral. Should be nothing to worry about.

EDIT: TCS might also be extra-active for FWD models, since there's nowhere else to distribute power to.

Perhaps transmission hang on high gear and did not downshifted on time. This happens when you "babe-ing" it and do not give it enough gas.

Sounds like something that happened to me, on a street going around a sharp turn I was headed for a parked car just before the sharp turn and the car activated the collision avoidance system braking and flashing a yellow light on the dash.
