So if that's the case looks like the wife's 18' is NOT going to get AA... darn :-(
I'm wondering if Lexus is going to do anything for other models. My 2020 RCF has Apple Carplay but no AA... I am an adroid user and will always be. I'd LOVE if they would release AA for the car. Hell I can do the install but at this point I'd almost be willing to spend the $200 just to get it unless someone posts up the files eventually like they did with Apple Car play.
Lexus is so freaking behind on infotainment. I just don't understand why car manufactures design their own stupid systems when we have two MAIN platforms that the majority of people are using... just mirror the system in the car.. They are starting to finally catch on but way too late.
Android Auto is pre-installed on the 2020 NX's built after Oct 2019. Similar to other members, I purchased my 2020 NX right before the cutoff so it did not come with it. Dealer is charging the said price for the installation.
Did your lexus came with Gen 11 Multimedia System or Gen 10?

Are you sure about this? I think it's like built after October 2020 not 2019. I have a 2021 NX built in September 2020 and it does not have Android Auto.
I think its unlikely. I believe it will require a different head unit. Besides that, what incentive does Lexus have to do this. They are in the business of selling cars and one way to do that is by enticing buyers with new features. Just my personal opinion, but I cannot see any auto manufacturer doing this on older model years unless the electronics are already there and it was just a simple firmware update.
Mazda has a kit and install with firmware update for $300-$400. This is for the 2014-2018 Mazda3. Works great
Seems like a good fit, but I've not heard anything about it.
This isnt a complete reply, but might be useful. Try contacting both Lexus and an independent remote start installer (not Best Buy- they only know their own products). Remote start guys also install hardware like this. They might be able to recommend the most popular product. Lexus might be dicks and void the warranty. Thats why you have to be careful with aftermarket. Afaik, Lexus is updating their entire lineup in the next few years.
